Market to become open weekly

Starting in April, the Coppell Farmers’ Market will return to being open each week from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

During this time, attendees can stroll through the market and purchase goods such as pasta, breads, cheeses, vegetables, meat and other produce.

Having been around for 10 seasons, the market has grown from a few vendors to around 30. It is also one of the 900 national winter markets. Since the inaugural season, Coppell has been part of the 48 percent growth of local markets in America.

CFM is also part of the GO TEXAN movement that has produce grown in Texas. The program encourages reducing the carbon footprint by buying produce shipped from an hour away instead of across the nation or from international countries.

Last year, they hosted the second annual farm to table event where 100 guests were treated to a six-course meal prepared by the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Dallas. All of the produce used was from the market and the vendors. The proceeds benefitted the market’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and the food stamp cards.

Since the growth of the market, CFM now has gluten free products from various vendors such as Ipanema Cheese bread and certain flavors for ARay of cakes.

Whether vegetables, fruits or bread is what customers need, CFM will have it.
