Over the years, the Coppell High School library has transformed their audiobooks from cassette tapes to discs in order to keep up with fast moving technology, but as iPhones and tablets’ popularity increased, the library staff took their resources to a new level.

For the past two weeks, the library has been filled with students in the science programs, from freshman to seniors, for a presentation to get them up to speed on their new access to the library.

Audiobooks and online books have been placed into applications called Catalist and Destiny Quest, which are downloadable on students’ phones and tablets from the App store.

This allows access to the resources the library offers on a personal mobile device.

“We are getting good feedback from the students, and when I look through the collection, most everything is checked out. Most everything is in use,” librarian Lex Anne Seifer said.

Because of popularity, Seifer has placed a new order of 200 titles, which will be ready for students before the winter break.

With constant presentations throughout the day, the students at CHS have become more aware of their mobile library access. According to the amount of books checked out, the demand continues to rise.
