Senior campers take on counseling positions
By Amanda Peck Staff Writer At most summer camps, the last year to attend camp for students is the summer before their senior year. However, this is not the case for a handful of seniors at CHS. For seniors Kelly Winkle, Morgan Smith and Zane Feemster, camp will continue for many summers after their senior year. Each of these students have attended the same summer camp since they were in Elementary School and, starting this summer, will be counselors at these camps. Baseball takes on Marcus tonight
By Amanda Peck Staff writer The varsity baseball team is scheduled to play Flower Mound Marcus tonight at 7 p.m. at Marcus. The Cowboys are ranked as the second team in the district with an 8-4 district record and a 17-10 overall record. The Cowboys only have three more district games to play before they move on to the playoffs. “We just hope to win our next few games and go into playoffs with a good start,” senior captain Zane Feemster said. Diamond Dolls provide support for baseball team
By Amanda Peck Staff Writer After losing six Division I players last year, the Coppell baseball team has done better than expected so far this season. As of right now, the Cowboys are in 2nd place in the district with a 6-4 record, following the undefeated Flower Mound Jaguars with a record of 10-0. School, club teams provide unique experiences
by Blake Seitz Sports Editor Everyone remembers their Little League days—how mom and pop loaded up kids, dogs and folding chairs into the minivan for a Saturday morning of small children’s sports. For most people, that was the extent of their athletic career. For others it’s the beginning, and the next step is often club leagues. Club leagues are essentially the private sector’s answer to school sports, although they function in a slightly different capacity. They are expensive and often hyper-competitive, but many argue they provide valuable services to college ball hopefuls of all ages.
