Registration for annual Turkey Trot begins
By Caroline Carter Staff Writer Every Thanksgiving Day the Dallas YMCA and Capital One Bank put on the annual Turkey Trot. Registration has begun and it will be a fun event for the whole family. The Turkey Trot began 43 years ago and was originally held at White Rock Lake but is now held in Downtown Dallas. This year runners have the option of running or walking either eight miles or a 5k. The Turkey Trot is a tradition that attracts thousands of people from across the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. YMCA volleyball is a big hit for players of all ages

Then the volleyball speeds towards the 10 foot line to the hit the floor with a smack, too fast to give the opposing players a chance to react. With the volleyball season at a close, devoted athletes look for opportunities to play their beloved sport. Luckily, the Coppell Family YMCA offers an open-gym volleyball session every Sunday afternoon and Monday night. Coppell Swim Team
Laura Kattilakoski Staff Writer The Coppell High School swim team will be competing against Marcus High School this Tuesday, December 14. It is a home meet, taking place at the local YMCA. Swim team has been working hard all season, with frequent practice and swim meets. They have also competed at meets as recently as last weekend, December 10 and 11 in Mansfield at the Mansfield Invitational. For those looking for Tuesday evening plans, coming to the YMCA to support the CHS swim team is a great way to show school spirit. Good luck swim team!
Healthy Kids Day to take place Sat. 4/17
by Melissa Brisco Staff Writer This Saturday, April 17, the city of Coppell will put on its yearly Healthy Kids Day at 146 Town Center Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. There purpose of the day is for children and adults to learn the importance of physical activity. There will be multiple different activities for children and adults to partake in, a few are: arts and crafts, a Zumba (Latin fusion) dance class, a kid’s cycling class and a bounce house.
