Vivacé! dessert show deemed a success
By Christina Burke Staff Writer A large crowd poured into the Coppell High School Auditorium on Nov. 18 and 19 for the highly anticipated Vivacé! show choir performance. Excited friends, family and Vivacé! fans filled the seats anxiously before the curtains drew back for the annual Vivacé! Dessert Show. Sophomore Holly Swaldi attends all the Vivacé! shows to support her sister, senior Rachael Swaldi. “I enjoy coming to the shows to watch my sister perform. She has a great voice, and they always put on an entertaining show,” Holly said. After a brief introduction from director Albert Torres, the crowd went wild as the show began. “Party Rock Anthem” blasted through the auditorium as all…
Vivacé! puts on a sweet show
By Christina Burke Staff Writer Every year when fall rolls around, the Coppell High School show choir Vivacé! prepares for its annual dessert show. It is a fun-filled fall performance where free desserts are given out during intermission. This special occasion started five years ago and is always the first Vivacé! production of the year. Much time and effort goes into preparation for this performance, not only the members, but also their parents. While Vivacé! works on the melodies at school, their parents are busy in the kitchen preparing the multitude of desserts that will be available for the show. Each student is required to supply three dozen desserts, so there will be plenty to…
First pep rally a success
By Caroline Carter Staff Writer Friday September 2, Coppell High School had their first pep rally of the year. With different performances, it definitely pumped up the students for tonight’s game versus the Arlington Colts. The out door pep rally was a great experience for the students of CHS. The pep rally started of with a performance from Vivace singing of the National Anthem. Then the Lariettes preformed a field pom routine to “Come on Feel the Noize”. Following the Lariettes, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity cheerleaders preformed a western theme cheer routine. However, halfway though the routine, there was some technical issues with the music. The cheerleaders continued to preform and finished the dance…
Vivace! spring show May 14th- 15th
Abby Drake Staff Writer It is time again for the singing talent of Coppell High School to dance, sing and show off their skills at the Vivace! spring show. Like most shows from the past the spring show is expected to be packed with fun choreography and catchy songs. Usually the spring show is more focused on the Vivace! Seniors since it is their last time to be on the CHS stage. Of course the whole cast of 16 boy and 16 girls will still be performing and giving off a great show. There are two chances to catch the show, Saturday May 14th at 2:00 pm and Sunday May 15th at 6:30 pm. Tickets…
Vivace! begins preparation for Spring Show
Beth Anne Carroll Staff Writer Singing and dancing are skills difficult enough to accomplish alone, but the talented members of Vivace! Show choir are ready to prove that they can do both. The annual Vivace! Spring show takes place May 12-14 in the auditorium. Even though the show is still a month away, choir members are already hard at work preparing their performance. “We started working on the show as soon as we got back from winter break and everyone is still working really hard,” senior captain Jessie Ross said. The show will display various styles of music and dance, ranging from hip-hop to Broadway to pop music. The show will also feature a collaboration…

Vivace! dessert show offers sweet treat for audiences
Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief It is kind of like “Glee”, minus Sue Sylvester and plus a free dessert. That’s right: the varsity Vivace! show choir will be presenting its annual dessert show on Nov. 19 and 20, promising a night of song, dance and entertainment for all. The night will consist of 12 full ensemble numbers as well as several “filler” solo dance and song pieces for members to show of their individual talent. Viewers should expect to see a range of musical numbers, from Broadway show tunes to hit “Glee” songs such as “No Air” and “Jump”. “I think Vivace! is such a fun group and we do a variety of different numbers from different…
CHS choir concert proves successful
Zeb White Asst. Business Manager, Staff Writer On Tuesday, Coppell High School’s choir department held its annual fall choir concert featuring all ten of the award-winning CHS choirs. As expected, the event was a success. The evening began with the Acapella (the top varsity mixed choir) performing the National Anthem. Students may recognize this rousing interpretation, as it is performed at every pep rally. Following Acapella were the CMS West honor choir, Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Select Women’s, Varsity Women’s, Varsity Men’s, Brava!, Bel Canto, Vivace!, and Madrigals. Then Acapella returned to the stage to end the night with the soft, inspiring tune of “Sure on this Shining Night” and the haunting melody of “Daemon Irrepit…
Hong sings to success
By Julia Kim Staff Writer The curtains fly open, and senior Judy Hong is on stage — her true home. Ready to sing. Ready to dance. This is it. Earlier in the spring, Hong was involved in an opportunity that launched her career as a singer. In Dallas Star King, a local Korean singing competition, she sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus in addition to “Start,” a Korean ballad, and “Popular” from the renowned musical, Wicked. “[The competition] made me want to get involved in other stuff,” Hong said. “Once I’m settled in college, I’m interested in trying out for American Idol — to see what the real singing world is like.” For over a…
Summer camp gives Vivace! head start on season
By Abby Drake Staff Writer The magical and anticipated sounds from the Coppell high school Vivace! started early this school year at their annual Vivace! summer camp. Their hard work gave them a head start on their new year. Back in August Coppell High School’s entire Vivace! group spent six hours a day singing and dancing at their annual two-week summer camp. Their day started late and ended early. The first week was devoted entirely to Vivace! shows and performances, while the second week gave kids first through eighth grade a chance to experience what a high school show choir is all about. A lot was accomplished in the first week as the students were…
