NHL playoffs begin with upsets galore

By Andy Tabor The NHL playoffs got off to a rousing start with two favorites, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals falling in their first games.  The Caps and Penguins both lost at home Wednesday and Thursday night, as both teams are now looking at a one game deficit. Other first games included the Buffalo Sabres defeating the Boston Bruins 2-1, the Vancouver Canucks beat the Las Angelas Kings 3-2, the Philidelphia Flyers beat the New Jersey Devils 2-1, the Colorado Avalanche beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2, and the upstart Phoenix Cyotes beat the traditional NHL blue blood Detroit Red Wings by the tally of 3-2. Cowgirls upset Allen Eagles in five-game match

By Andy Tabor Heart, determination, and execution:  all of these traits were demonstrated on Nov. 6 by the Coppell Cowgirl volleyball team.  The Cowgirls beat the number four ranked team in the state and top team in the area 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, and 16-14 in a nail-biting five game match. The Cowgirls and Allen Eagles were extremely evenly matched and seemed to have answers for the other team every single point.  Volleys lasted for what felt like minutes, while every single fan was on their feet screaming for their team.  The atmosphere was electric, with chants flying back and forth in the tightly packed gym.
