Tanner McCord
Staff Writer

As many of my Facebook friends and I’m sure other students have noticed, Facebook has come out with another unnecessary and unwanted update to the home page. If you have been away from Facebook for a few days, when you log on there will be a quite distracting box right above the new-ish chat update that is buzzing and updating like a dadgum twitter feed.

Although the update is liked by some, it is evident through reading the constantly updating side box that so and so posted a status about it and what’s her face has liked it already and average Joe has commented on it saying that he doesn’t like it either. It may be just in time for mum and garter creeping though for those who are interested. To view a photo that has been posted you don’t even need to click on the post, just hover your mouse over it and the picture will pop up and allow you to comment or like it.

I personally don’t mind the update all that much, I don’t necessarily think it is useful either though. It is good to see developers care for and update such a widely used social network, and hopefully there will be more, and more useful, updates to come.

The new athletics district was announced recently and it is beginning to concern many coaches and sponsors. The main issue is the time it takes to get to these schools.

Before, the district consisted of mostly Lewisville ISD schools, all of which are less than ten miles from CHS. However several of the schools added to the district, such as Saginaw and Denton Guyer, are more than thirty minutes away. The prices of bus transportation, as mentioned in the article “Wheels on the bus go round, as budget stretches thin”, are the main concern for organizations that do any kind of competition that involves travel.

This district change could mean more money trouble for the band, Lariettes and football team, who take numerous buses to the games. The change will not take place until the beginning of the 2010 school year.
