CHS Band to host pre-UIL concert
By Ellen Cameron Staff Writer On Tuesday, March 30, the Coppell High School band will be hosting a concert, open to the general public. The concert, conducted in the school’s auditorium, begins at 7:00 p.m. and is expected to last approximately three hours. The four high school bands will be performing music such as Gallant Seventh, Carnival Overture and Symphony in One Movement. “It’s basically a dress rehearsal,” section leader and junior Violet Coker said. “There aren’t many times we get to sit down and play in class while we’re working on it, because we’re perfecting it, and usually we can’t just sit for up for up to 23 minutes playing.” The concert will be…
UIL Academics District March 25 and 26
by Melissa Brisco staff writer Beginning March 25 and continuing to March 26, CHS students are competing in the UIL Academics district competitions at Flowermound High School. Students who advance in this competition will be going to Lubbock for the weekend of April 23-25. “I am so excited to represent my school in this competition,” junior Ashleigh Heaton said. “I will try my hardest to be best headline and editorial writer at the competition. [My newspaper advisor] Mr. Wofford continually inspires me to perform at the top journalist level, and I’m so glad that he let me be a contestant.”
One-Act to go public tonight

One way they are doing this is offering a free performance on Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the CHS auditorium for parents and family members to see the show in its entirety. What better way to decide than to go to a kick-off meeting complete with free food? After school on Tuesday, Dec. 15, the UIL sponsors will be hosting a meeting for prospective competitors in the lecture hall to discuss the upcoming competition season and enjoy free pizza and drinks (courtesy of Mr. Hunt).
