Some students sing, produce artwork or play a sport while others choose to run 13.1 miles. The reasons students choose to run a half-marathon vary greatly. Some are merely checking it off a list of life goals, while others seek to prove to themselves that they can go the distance. In most recent memory that would be Tyler Landis, Nate Hruby, and Brandon Mullins who all excelled at not only football but also lacrosse. The two-sport athlete is not something new to Coppell. Kerpon commits to run collegiate track for Blue Devils

Sammy Robben Staff Writer For senior track star Elizabeth Kerpon, picking a college was like everything else in her life: fast. After visiting three schools, she knew Duke was the school for her. Kerpon recently committed to run track for Duke University in North Carolina in the fall. She was accepted to Duke due to her outstanding academics and remarkable talent in running track. By Nathan Reck The track season is winding down with the District 6-5A Meet meaning that for many athletes the season is nearing its end, but for a select few district is only the first step as they set their sights on the regional and then possibly state meets. The team has seen five school records broken over the season. Anna Goldblatt set the pole vault record at a height of 11’0” and freshman Cassidy Pickrell tied the high jump record that had been set in 1993 and again in 2003 at 5’4”.
