Students weary of school, ready for break

Seth Slover Staff Writer “I am so ready for Thanksgiving break,” Junior Lizzie Bell said. She is by no means the only student who feels this way. As the school year persists, now into the month of November, many students are beginning to “hit a wall” when it comes to school.  Naturally, most students would say that the solution to this problem is the highly anticipated Thanksgiving break.  Thanksgiving break is coming up soon on the Coppell ISD Calendar. “School starts seeming longer and harder the longer we go without a break, so I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving break for that reason, plus I love Thanksgiving as a holiday too,” Junior Courtney Echerd said. Anyone else ready for Thanksgiving break?

Jane Kim Staff Writer Although the weather here in Coppell is slowly starting to cool down, the stress levels have yet to follow in pursuit. Especially at the end of the six weeks where teachers are quickly trying to cram in tests, projects and grades. Most students here at CHS would call the week before the end of the sixth weeks crazy week, torture week or super stress week. What a fitting name to this hectic week. Thank goodness that Thanksgiving break is in T-minus 9 days. With everything going on like the various tests and projects, with the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie to be released, the end of the second…

Band, choir gridiron tradition continues

By Caitlin Conner Staff Writer Lawn chairs and coolers litter the indistinguishable sidelines. Large crowds of people gather behind the fieldhouse, cheering on their respective teams. Fans hold signs reading “Our director scares your director.” Despite being scheduled during Thanksgiving break, there was a considerable turnout on Nov. 23 for the 13th annual band versus choir boys football game. First played in 1997, the band versus choir game has been a little-known secret kept between the two organizations, which are engaged in a friendly rivalry. The official record is choir with 10 wins and band with 3, so the tradition has been kept alive for 13 years. The team captains of the band and choir…

Thanksgiving break ends, countdown to winter break begins

Students of Coppell High School returned to class yesterday after the extended break. Even after what was for many a relaxing week, the social networking website Facebook was littered with countdowns. They read, ‘Only fourteen days left’ and ’98 more periods before break!’ along with many other numbers. I posted a similar one as my own status. Then I began thinking: does this breakdown of time help students, or hurt them in the long run? For some, it is helpful to keep their eyes on the prize, give themselves a goal to shoot for. It can make the time seem more manageable, less frightening, especially since the three weeks between fall and winter break can be filled with…

Coppell hockey competes during break

By Gaby Moran Staff Writer Many students plan to go on vacations this coming break and forget about school completely. However, like the football team, the Coppell hockey team has games to play and no time to waste. On Saturday Nov. 21, the Coppell hockey team plays Plano Senior High School team at 7:45 pm at the Dr. Pepper Center in Plano. It will be a crucial game because each team has the same record. With Thanksgiving being on Thursday, the weekly Thursday night game is moved to Tuesday Nov. 24. Coppell hockey plays Allen High School hockey team at 6:30 pm at the ITC-Red rink. Along with Allen’s other sports teams, their hockey team…
