Taylor Swift makes much anticipated second Dallas appearance
Frances Ruiz Staff Writer Okay, while it may look like I’m having a seizure as I wildly jump up and down and excitedly scream the word ”TSwift” over and over again, I promise you that I’m not. The reason why I’m unable to control myself and look like some sort of crazy person escaped from the nearest hospital? Tonight’s the Taylor Swift Concert, and guess who scored tickets. That’s right. There’s no typing mistake. Nine hours from now, I will be jamming out to some of my favorite, and come on you have to admit, catchiest songs ever released. If you couldn’t already tell from the fall concert shirt I’m wearing when I went to the same show in September, I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. …
Swift wins big at Grammys except on stage
Staff Writer Paige Wilson Last night at the Grammys, teen super star Taylor Swift won big, taking home awards for best country female artist and the biggest one of all, album of the year. She beat Beyonce big time. Even though she struck gold with awards, her stage performance was an epic failure. She sang with the legendary Stevie Nicks. But, while she jumped around in joy, her preformance flopped. I could understand that when she tried to sing a Stevie Nicks song that she wouldn’t be as strong, but her preformance was terrible. In case you didn’t notice, she was off note the entire time. Even when she sang her single “You Belong With Me”,…
Sidekick predicts winners for 52nd Grammys
By Chris Nguyen Features Editor Let’s not get anything confused. The Grammys are by and large the worst awards show of the four, otherwise known as the EGOT (Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, Tonys) by “30 Rock” fans. They are long, drawn-out and unlike the Oscars or even Emmys, do not try to even have street cred, going for the big industry singers and bands, like Beyonce. However, I love awards show and the totally awesome Lady Gaga is a confirmed guest so count me in. Here are my predictions for this year’s ceremony. Record of the Year “Halo” Beyonce “I Gotta Feeling” The Black Eyed Peas “Use Somebody” Kings of Leon “Poker Face” Lady Gaga “You…
Five things that you should go buy tickets to in Dallas
By Melissa Brisco Staff Writer Living near Dallas, we are fortunate enough to have a great location for music, shows, sporting events and other attractions. The upcoming event that I, personally, am most looking forward to is Taylor Swift’s tour. Swift will be returning to Dallas March 11th in the American Airlines Center as a second time for her tour “FEARLESS”. Swift’s concert tickets went onsale Oct. 20, and sold out less than 15 minutes later. However, there are some scalper websites that still have tickets available at astromomically high prices. The next event that I am extremely excited for is, “Wicked”. “Wicked” is a Broadway musical that has been to Dallas two times previously. “Wicked”…
CMA awards show airs tonight
By Rebecca Fowler Staff Writer The country is going to be singing and stomping its boots tonight when the CMA awards airs live on ABC. This will be the 43rd CMA awards and is sure to be filled with famous stars and songs. One of the most talked about country artists this year is Taylor Swift, who is up for Entertainer of the Year along with Kenney Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait and Keith Urban. The only girl in the running—and the only one under 25 at that—Swift is likely to make it big this year and take home the trophy and greatest honor the Country Music Association can give. With the most records sold…

How MTV’s VMAs kinda got its groove back
By Chris Nguyen Features Editor After several years of pain in Miami and Los Angeles with a listless ceremony in New York in between, last night’s VMAs on MTV rebooted itself back in New York City. MTV kept the stage big, the celebrities camptastic and the performances coming. It’s far from the glory of, say Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” performance, but it did keep my celebrity-hungry brain with a lot of nourishment to keep watching. Here’s a recap of the amazingly awesome, the bad and the excruciatingly painful (I’m looking at you, Kanye!): The Good Michael Jackson tribute Madonna opened up the show with a simple and fitting remembrance of pop icon Michael Jackson. She…
