“Sparks Fly” in Swifts concert

dsc_0114-copy

By Sarah Police Staff Writer There were 20 songs, eight wardrobe changes and 50,000 people present on a Saturday night. These numbers do not even begin to explain what went on in Cowboys Stadium on Oct. 8. With thousands of people screaming in a pitch-black stadium, Taylor Swift appeared on a platform that rose from the ground onto the stage. Amongst thousands of cameras flashing, white smoke billowed from the platform and she walked out wearing a gold, sparkly, fringe dress, singing “Sparks Fly.” Unlike other concerts I have been to, Swift was actively moving throughout the night. She danced, whipped her hair around, and often played guitar. Swift was very friendly throughout the concert….

The best entertainment of 2010

Kimberly Del Angel Staff Writer  The year 2010 was filled with new breakouts that forever changed the face of entertainment. New record-shattering artists, mind-blowing technology innovations and thirst-quenching novels took America by storm, making it a year to remember.  Therefore, I am proud to present you the three biggest breakouts in entertainment of 2010:  Taylor Swift: Top Selling and Most Played Artist of 2010  Known as a “teenage love guru” and “country legend”, Taylor Swift is leaving a mark on teenage girls around the country. Well known for her song’s everyday connections to teenage struggles (especially love and heartache), Swift’s albums have become the ultimate “love Bible”; making her no doubt the best-selling digital artist in…

Swift is shocked by standing ovation

Sammy Robben Staff Writer Taylor Swift has performed hundreds of times, and is probably on of the most poised and professional teen singers out there. So what happened with the strange ending to her Back to December performance? After performing Back to December from her hit album Speak Now she was seen mouthing the words “what” in to the crowd as the curtain went down. Why? There are many theories for the singer’s response: 1. She was saying “what” to her ex-boyfriends, twilight star Taylor Lautner who the song was suppose to be an apology for. 2. Something was said into her earpiece that she was responding to. 3. She heard a boo from the…

CMA awards make for big country music night

By Mary Whitfill Features Editor The 44th annual CMA Awards were last night, making for a big night in country music and a debut for a favorite Iron Man Actress. The awards were hosted by country music starts Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert, both of whom have won many awards in the past and took home big titles this year. The winners of the Awards can be found below, but perhaps the most surprising event of the evening was music performance by Gwyneth Paltrow who took over the stage in her first live country performance. She performed the song “Country Strong,” the theme song of her upcoming film in which she plays an up and…

T-Swift has done it again!

Jane Kim Staff Writer You’ve all probably heard of Taylor Swift, pop/country singer, 20-year old multi millionare, and apparently dating Jake Gyllenhaal. Her newest album “Speak Now” has sold over one million albums in the first week. That’s the biggest one-week sales tally in more than 5-1/2 years! This isn’t her first time being in the spotlight, Swift has taken the title of 2010′s best chart debut. I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift ever since the beginning but I think her new album tops everything else. Her songs are always something that everyday people can relate with and they are also a diary of her life. The most popular songs on her album “Speak Now”…

Cry more Taylor Swift

Nobody has forgotten the little incident that happened at last years VMA’s between Kanye West and Taylor Swift. Though Swift has said that she’s over it, her performance last night at the VMA’s showed otherwise. Her song started off with clips from when West interrupted her acceptance speech (skip to 0:43) during the awards in 2009 and the rest of the song was just awkward. As if the song hadn’t made it obvious already that Swift was still holding a grudge, her refusal to close the show with West surely did. The two were scheduled to sing a duet that West was all for but Swift didn’t want anything to do with it. The girl is nearing 21 and…

Taylor Swift makes much anticipated second Dallas appearance

Frances Ruiz Staff Writer Okay, while it may look like I’m having a seizure as I wildly jump up and down and excitedly scream the word ”TSwift” over and over again, I promise you that I’m not. The reason why I’m unable to control myself and look like some sort of crazy person escaped from the nearest hospital? Tonight’s the Taylor Swift Concert, and guess who scored tickets. That’s right. There’s no typing mistake. Nine hours from now, I will be jamming out to some of my favorite, and come on you have to admit, catchiest songs ever released. If you couldn’t already tell from the fall concert shirt I’m wearing when I went to the same show in September, I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. …
