I love piling blankets on my bed, the puff of my breath amongst the cool air and taking a break from school. But you know what I love the most? Christmas shopping. Vista Ridge Mall’s Cool School contest awards NTH@C $2,500

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager If you’ve visted Vista Ridge Mall recently, you might have noticed a wall dedicated to the Vista Ridge Mall’s Cool School contest with stickers of locals schools who are in the running for a money prize. New Tech High @ Coppell was a name doted on that wall, along with eight other schools, and after months of competing was finally announced as the first place winner on Jan. 29. Second place was taken by McAuliffe Elementary School in Highland Village, winning $1,500, and third place by Lillie J. Jackson Early Childhood Center in Lewisville with a $1,000 prize. Fashion designs inspire student to unite classmates, lower costs of prom

Frances Ruiz Staff Writer Assuming the role of sales lead for Whatchamacallit Fashions, senior Sharon Mathai planned and materialized a get-together for senior girls in need of a prom dress.  What may have started out as an interest in lowering the mounting and overwhelming costs of prom, however, soon became an innovative and resourceful way for Mathai to not only help others with their search, but to create new memories and experiences along the way.  Taking place on March 7, the social event was held from 5-7 p.m. at the Whatchamacallit store in Addison. Beloved holiday shopping

by Ashley Attanucci Staff Writer Everybody knows that the holiday season is all about the joy of giving -buying or making gifts and distributing them to the ones you love. While I admit that giving is the most rewarding part of the the season, December goes deeper than the “giving” aspect. I am not an avid shopper myself, but for those many who shop frequently and who are professionals at bargain hunting, the holiday shopping season is as awesome as tax-free weekend. Not only is holiday gift shopping more exciting than other shopping experiences (getting to shop for others can be quite a thrill) but the aftermath of the holidays brings great sales and blowouts….

Holiday House this weekend

by Caitlin Conner Staff Writer If shopping for Christmas gifts months ahead is something you like doing, stop by Holiday House this weekend at Coppell High School. Holiday House is an important fundraiser for seniors where profits benefit project graduation towards the end of the year. It takes place on Sunday, November 8 from 10AM to 4:30PM in the commons area at CHS. From handmade jewelry to children’s clothing to tamales, the fundraiser offers over 100 vendors to meet everyone’s needs. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students and children 10 and under get in free. Concessions will be available
