Cowboys soccer jumps out to strong start in District games

Thomas Hair Staff Writer The Coppell Cowboys soccer team looked promising in the pre-district tournaments last month, and thus far, their success has carried over into the District games. With 6 District games under their belt, the Cowboys boast a 4-2 record. Their wins were displays of dominance while their only losses were very close and could’ve gone either way. The Cowboys began District win three consecutive shutout wins, with a cumulative score of 9-0 against Saginaw, Guyer, and Fossil Ridge. On February 11, the Cowboys fell 2-1 to undefeated Southlake Carrol in a nail-biter. Instead of letting this tough loss get them down, the team showed their drive and quickly responded, laying a whopping 10-0…

Cowboys on bye week, look ahead to Saginaw

By Peter Sblendorio Sports Editor Coming off of three impressive wins to start the year, the Coppell Cowboys spend this Friday on their bye week in preparation for their district debut next week against Saginaw. Following that match up, the Cowboys will take on a Denton Guyer team at Buddy Echols Field that many have projected to win the district. While the Cowboys do…

The prices of bus transportation, as mentioned in the article “Wheels on the bus go round, as budget stretches thin”, are the main concern for organizations that do any kind of competition that involves travel. This district change could mean more money trouble for the…

Coppell placed in District 7-5A following realignment

by Blake Seitz Sports Editor In Birdville last November, Coppell’s football team suffered the loss that would end its postseason run. Yesterday, Coppell’s future was determined again in Birdville during a Region-wide realignment meeting, which set Coppell’s district for the next two years. Coppell was placed in District 7-5A for the next two seasons, along with old rival Southlake Carroll, former 4A-school Denton Guyer, Justin Northwest, Saginaw and the three Keller schools (Keller, Keller Central and Fossil Ridge). It would seem this is a lucky break for Coppell, which will be one of the larger schools in its district. Head coach Joe McBride was modest in his assessment of the realignment. “There will be no…
