KXT celebrates a year on air, begins membership campaign

Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief In a world full of 106.1 KISS FM’s and i93.3′s, radio can feel like an over-commercialized, annoying mess of pop replays. That’s why I love KXT 91.7, a public radio station: they play music from interesting, independent artists (including CHS graduate Emily Elbert, as of late,) and I don’t think I have ever heard the same song play twice since I started listening to the station at the beginning of the year. Alternative for every day radio

Laura Kattilakoski Staff Writer The radio is one device used by teenagers everywhere to listen to their favorite songs as well as to hear the new hits out there. However, the radio seems to be doing a little less spreading of music and a lot more of playing the same ten favorites. Maybe some people don’t see this as a problem, but I, personally, like to listen to the radio to hear new songs. I know people generally want to listen to what’s popular but it wouldn’t hurt to play some songs by artists who are a little less famous.
