Pie Five gets the high five

PieFive2web

Kimberly Del Angel Staff Writer What is round, cheesy and ready in five minutes? Call it the Subway of pizzas; Pie Five has revolutionized the pie. In an ambient soothing environment, the smell of pepperoni and sausage engulfs the restaurant while casual music plays overhead. Hidden on the corner MacArthur Boulevard and Irving Lane, this eatery is surrounded by small shops in a miniature plaza in a relaxed location. When you enter Pie Five, your attention is immediately drawn to the metallic walls and casual environment. When I had first looked up the place I expected to come into a nicer location with cushioned tables and waiters (maybe I was envisioning Fireside Pies). If you…

I Fratelli to give away free pizzas every Wednesday in October

By Caroline Carter Staff Writer I Fratelli, one of Coppell’s favorite pizza places, is offering its customers a unique opportunity to receive a free pizza every Wednesday in October. By simply bringing in your dog to the restaurant, you will receive one free pizza. Last Wednesday was the first time for the promotion and drew a big crowd.  Not everyone was fortunate enough to receive a free pizza. I Fratelli is only giving away fifty free pizzas per day, so if you want to snag one, I would suggest going before 6:00 as many of my friends went after and were not successful with getting their pizza. CiCi’s Eaters Enjoy Lower Price

by Ellen Cameron Staff Writer CiCi’s Pizza, a chain based in our own Coppell but that first opened in Plano, is currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary by offering prices of $3.99 per person. This discount began February 17th and will end on the 28th, making this the last week food fanatics can jump on the low prices. On a side note, I encourage all readers to get at least one piece of cheesy-garlic bread when they go. For more information about CiCi’s current deal, click here.

Coppell-based businesses prove their worth

Ellen Cameron Staff Writer Coppell’s a small place. Depending on traffic and route, you could drive through it in a matter of minutes. And yet, our tiny town houses a suprising number of business headquarters, and not just for mom-and-pop businesses, but large recognized corporations. Most Coppellians could tell you that Cici’s headquarters are in Coppell. However, fewer realize that the Container Store is also centered in our little town. Fewer still know about Chick Companies Inc, a company that creates packaging for high-value items, from panda bears to Julia Child’s kitchen. Shared Technologies, a recipient of Forbes recognition for the 18th best place to work in the United States, is also relatively obscure. All…

Cicis Pizza honors Big Brothers Big Sisters program

Pizza, like all food, is good, but tastes even better free. For the entire month of January, Cicis Pizza, a Coppell-based pizza chain, will be offering free buffets to participants in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program who come to Cicis to spend time with their younger “siblings”. This is in support of National Mentoring Month, and with the recognization that Cicis and the program have very similar core values. This isn’t the first time the chain has opened its doors to the cause, though; in 2009, CiCi’s Pizza donated more than $26,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters. For more information about the wonders of free pizza for these dedicated mentors or about Cici’s history of…
