Coppell Community Garden holds photography contest
Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief The Coppell Community Garden is seeking young photographers from Coppell, New Tech and Ranchview High School in their latest photography contest. Photographers are asked to take photos of the Coppell Community Gardens or the Coppell Farmers Market and submit them for consideration. The winner of the contest will be awarded $50 and announced in May. If you are interested in submitting your photography, you can send a maximum of 4 photos to TrudyWhite434@hotmail.com with your name, school, phone number and address included. All photos sent in will become property of the Coppell Community Garden Corporation, so be sure to keep that in mind while submitting.
C.L.A.M. submissions now being taken
Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief Have a cool piece of writing or a stellar photo you wish you could show off to more than your friends? Well, now’s your chance: the C.L.A.M. (Coppell Literary and Arts Magazine) has begun taking submissions for this year’s edition, which will be published and available in May of 2011. Students and staff are encouraged to submit any prose, poetry, photography or art they would like. Submissions are due by January 14, 2011. Story by Allie Perison Editor in Chief Senior Morgan Smith establishes her own take on the world through the lens of her camera. After taking photojournalism sophomore year, Smith realized that her interest in photography was both a talent and a passion of hers. “Taking a really good picture and seeing it turn out makes me feel so accomplished,” Smith said. “People say to do what you love, and I love taking pictures. C.L.A.M. pre-sales begin now

All submissions have been received, and the magazine will be available after Spring Break. However, pre-sales begin now. The C.L.A.M. is $12 if ordered before March 15 and $15 if purchased after. Eichenberger brings new life to photography club
by Melissa Brisco staff writer This year more than ever, it seems that CHS has developed an intense passion for photography; cameras are everywhere and sites like ‘flickr’ are becoming increasingly popular. Students in International Baccalaureate (IB), in addition to the requirement of taking higher level classes, also have to complete requirements for certain hours. One such set of hours that IB students have to complete is ‘creative hours’. Junior IB student Audrey Eichenberger has found an inventive and productive way of completing her hours. Eichenberger is resurrecting the CHS Shutterbugs Club. C.L.A.M. deadline Friday

All pieces of writing and photography can be given to Mr. Bowden in C231 on a CD, flash drive, e-mail or hardcopy, though electronic submissions are preferred. The C.L.A.M. accepts work from both CHS teachers and students from all grades. In addition, subscribers are welcomed and will receive a business ad in the back of the magazine, sized according to the amount donated. Sponsors are encouraged in order to help fund the C.L.A.M.
