Cowboys up against tough competiton in Cedar Hill

By Peter Sblendorio Staff Writer The Cowboys will get an immediate chance to shake their tough, 50-45 loss against the Duncanville Panthers on Tuesday, as they play in their second tournament of the season on Thursday. The tournament will be hosted by Cedar Hill and will last through Saturday. Players will miss each of the next two days at school to participate in the event.  Coppell will be looking to win it all at Cedar Hill after placing second in the Avery Air Invitational Tournament, which took place Nov. 26-28. Duncanville, Perry Jones look to invade Coppell

A swagger that led the Panthers to the UIL 5A state championship game last season and state titles in 1991, 1997 and 2007. Coppell is coming off a victory over Allen last Tuesday, a game in which they scored double digits in every quarter, something they will undoubtedly need to if they are to contend in this game. Cowboys pack All-District roster, sweep both MVPs

Story by Peter Sblendorio Staff Writer The All-District 6-5A teams were released on Nov. 30 to honor the best players in District 6-5A for the 2009 season. Twenty-four Cowboys were placed on the all-district first team and second team after Coppell finished 11-1, including a 5-1 record in 6-5A. Coppell senior quarterback Hayden Hawk earned the Offensive Most Valuable Player award after leading one of the top offensive teams in District 6-5A. Hawk completed 265 of his 390 pass attempts for 3,408 yards and threw 29 touchdown passes over the course of the season.
