Over the course of the year, NHS members are required to get a certain amount of volunteer hours. NHS induction tonight

By Kara Adkins Online Copy Editor National Honor society is just that, an honor. It reflects scholarship, leadership, service, and character. It is a program that rewards student’s for their hard work and academic excellence. This program looks for well-rounded students and requires students to be involved in helping the community and school. This evening at 6:30 p.m. Junior and Senior students who applied and got accepted into the club will be officially inducted. Fall induction only will include around 30 students while the next induction for underclassmen will be around 100 students. Give blood, save lives

By Kristen Shepard Staff Writer Tomorrow in the small gym, something other than PE and Dance classes, will be taking place in the small gym. On Thursday 6, 2011 Carter BloodCare will be working with the Coppell High School to offer students the opportunity to give blood to people in need. Each year Carter BloodCare works with schools around the area to offer blood drives to students, an opportunity they might not normally have. Busy month for seniors at CHS

During all three lunches Jostens will be here for you to purchase your cap and gowns, class rings, senior shirts and sweatshirts. Seniors must also get there senior portraits to be included in the yearbook on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 – 1 p.m and many seniors have not gotten their pictures taken! NHS prepares to induct new members

Laura Kattilakoski Staff Writer The time for applications and teacher recomendations has come and gone as next years members for the National Honor Society were notified last week. Like always, the group accepted into NHS features a large amount of students who have not only maintained a high GPA, but also managed to turn in all their paperwork on time. As a final step before full membership, all participants are required to attend the induction ceremony taking place on Tuesday April 5 at 7:30pm. While it is not a formal event, everyone is expected to wear nice clothes and appear professional. Congratulations to all new members.

Cranes help aid Japan relief

Kimberly Del Angel Staff Writer Last Friday, Wilson Elementary students came together with their cranes to help aid Japan along with The Bezos Family Foundation . For each crane that was donated, The Bezos Family Foundation donated $2 to Architecture for Humanity’s reconstruction efforts in Japan. This all started with 3rd Grade students wanted to help out Japan in some way after hearing about the devastation of the earthquake and tsunami; many students and staff members at wilson elementry have become friends with former Wilson students who now live in Japan. Sophomores in a tizzy over annual NHS applications

Michelle Pitcher Opinions Editor So, teachers, prepare yourselves to crank out seventeen letters of recommendation, because it is time once more for students to apply for admission into the National Honor Society. Current sophomores with a GPA of 4.8 or higher are eligible to apply. Along with the application, students are expected to turn in three letters of recommendation (two teachers, one other adult), an essay describing why you are interested in membership, and a complete academic resume. Applications are to be turned in to Mr. Casey by Friday, March 11, and chosen members will be inducted on Friday, March 25.

NHS to hold February meeting

Julia Kim Staff Writer The National Honor Society (NHS) will meet tomorrow, Feb. 10 in the lecture hall at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. T-shirts will be handed out during this time, with sizes going out on a first come, first served basis. The club’s yearbook photos will be on the following Friday at 11:30 a.m. for seniors and 11:50 a.m. for juniors; officers ask that everyone wear their shirts. During the meeting, the club will recognize those who have completed all their hours in addition to announcing future opportunities for service hours. NHS invites new faces

Julia Kim Staff Writer Juniors and seniors with a GPA of atleast 4.8 have the opportunity to apply for the Coppell High School National Honor Society. Applications for the fall induction can be picked up in sponsor Kevin Casey’s room B214. They are due by Nov. 19 and should include letters of reference. The National Honor Society is nationally recognized program that recognizes academically outstanding high school and middle school students. At CHS, the club is involved in a multitude of different acts of volunteering including helping at local elementary schools, assisting food drives and banks and picking up trash at monthly trash pick-ups.
