Tomorrow, January 27 three new movies will be released to the public: The Grey, Man on a Ledge, and One for the Money. The Grey, which stars Liam Neeson, is about a group of oil-rig roughnecks that are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Students taste budget crunch in cafeteria line
Kimberly Del Angel Staff Writer The United States has felt the impact of the Recession, whether it is through rising prices in gas or ketchup. Educational funding in result has suffered severely across America. Like school districts across the state, Coppell Independent School District finds itself facing budget issues, fighting to manage educational funds and restrain the effects of money cuts on teachers and students. During a budget press conference in Austin on April 6, Texas school districts were held out to speak to legislators responsible for making public education funding recommendations and proceeded to emphasize that budget cuts were unwanted, but necessary. Battle of the Bands to benefit Japan disaster relief

In efforts to help one of our nation’s greatest neighbors, thousands of Americans have come together to devise all sorts of charity events and fundraisers to help raise money in hopes to help restore one of the world’s most precious countries. New Tech High @ Coppell was a name doted on that wall, along with eight other schools, and after months of competing was finally announced as the first place winner on Jan. 29. Christmas cheer in the math department
The math department has decided to gather up money to donate to a Christmas angle tree. But the math department has also decided to help spread the holiday cheer by turning this simple donation excersise into a raffel. Up for grabs are two parking spots the math department gained in the turkey drive weeks earlier. The tickets will be selling at one ticket for $5 or three for $10. The winners of the raffel will be allowed to park in the two “prime” spots the week of Dec. 14 – 18. The department will be accepting all donations, regardless of ticket sales. The raffel will be open only to other teachers.
Dig for the Cure a big success
By Andy Tabor The Dig for the Cure program was another major success this year. The Cowgirls were able to raise 15,067.81 dollars during the fundraiser. The Cowgirls also collected over 3,700 dollars in t -shirt sales alone. Players would sit on the stage in the cafeteria during lunch to promote the fundraiser and sell shirts. Also money made from a bake sale was added to the overall total. Laurie McNamara helped to create this fundraiser for the volleyball team and the Susan G. Komen foundation of Dallas.
