MGMT to release 3rd CD
Tanner McCord Staff Writer Since their first EP in 2005, the band MGMT has come a long way, producing 2 full albums and the third, titled “Late Night Tales” will be released on October 4th. MGMT’s big hits include “Time to Pretend”, “Kids”, and “Flash Delirium”, however no hits of their own will come of this next release. “Late Night Tales” is not a CD of pure MGMT at all, in fact, only one song of their’s is on it, and it is a cover. MGMT disappoint with album, “Congratulations”
Once described as “experimental pop chameleons” by New Musical Express magazine, MGMT seems to have shrugged off that name with their new album Congratulations. While its first album, Oracular Spectacular, was voted as the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone, Congratulations is a bit of a disappointment. The album dives straight in with its opening track “It’s Working”. Upon first listen, lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden’s voice sounds similar to that of a teenage boy whose voice is infused with helium. The song gets better as it goes on and VanWyngarden sounds a little more like himself. The twanging guitars and lilting harpsichords make the song upbeat and catchy and is one of…

Thanks to my handy-dandy local concerts app which I recently downloaded onto my iPhone, I have become increasingly aware of the concerts I could and should be attending, especially in the upcoming months.
