Coppell to partake in annual Earthfest celebration

Divya Kumar News Editor This Saturday, April 30, marks the celebration of Coppell’s annual Earthfest, a day in honor of environmental friendliness. Citizens of Coppell of all ages have the opportunity to gather at Town Center, beginning at 10 AM, to celebrate in a variety of different activities that facilitate and promote environmental awareness. The activities designated at Town Center range from educational booths, to kids crafts, to live music, plant sales and much more. The event is free and purely for entertainment purposes, as well as to inform Coppell citizens as to how to be more environmentally-friendly. Coppell MUN competes in first conference, prepares for future events

by Divya Kumar News Editor This past Saturday, Oct. 2, the Coppell High School Model United Nations team competed in their first conference of the year at Baylor University in Waco. For the first ever conference, the team met with great success and used the experience to bolster their skills for upcoming events. The three countries chosen by the CHS team to represent in this ‘mock’ United Nations conference were Djibouti, Switzerland and Australia. Solar Car team races toward a brighter future

This competition, designed for high school engineering students, focuses on the creation of a car that will be drivable solely off of a battery charged by solar power. Though such a task seems beyond the means of an average student, the CHS Solar Car team proves otherwise. SAS teams travels to Fredericksburg to launch rockets

by Divya Kumar News Editor Thursday and Friday, April 22 and 23, Bill Montana’s Aeroscience Studies (also known as Rocket Studies, or SAS) classes travelled to Fredericksburg, Texas in order to launch the rockets they have been preparing in class for weeks. The junior rocket was designed to carry a one-pound load to an altitude up to a mile, and the senior rocket was designed to exceed the speed of sound while traveling more than two miles, straight into the air. “It seems like something complicated,” junior SAS member Meera Patel said. “But we’ve been learning about rocketry and physics all year in this class, which have really helped us to design these rockets.” Each…
