By Andy Tabor The Coppell Cowgirls dream of becoming state champions two years running was shattered this season when they lost to McKinney Boyd 3-2 in the third round of playoffs. The Cowgirls still had a very successful and exciting season, and the loss should propel returning players to work even harder than before. The Cowgirls entered pre-season play ranked number one in the nation, marking the first time the program had ever received this distinction in its history. Coppell hockey defeats McKinney Lions
By Amanda Peck Staff Writer The Coppell varsity hockey team played, and easily defeated, McKinney last night at the Farmers Branch Dr. Pepper Center with a final score being a whopping 9-0. Usually teams that have been extremely successful throughout the season and are basically guaranteed a playoff spot tend to lack motivation toward the end of district season; something similar to the senioritis that students catch towards the end of their senior year. However, this is not the case for this team, proven by their continuous effort this far and also by their impressive 14-5 record, two of the losses being in overtime. Cowboys strive to move up in rankings
By Amanda Peck Staff Writer The Coppell varsity hockey team will play McKinney tonight at the new McKinney South Dr. Pepper Stars Center. The game tonight should be a good game for the Cowboys considering the McKinney Lions have won one of their district games so far. The Cowboys are 4-3 with two of their losses being in overtime shootouts. Also, tonight’s game will determine if Coppell can surpass Southlake Carroll in the rankings for their league. “We are really hoping to win the tonight’s game so that we can be ahead of Southlake in the rankings,” senior captain Charlie Busch said. “We have been practicing hard in order to prepare for our upcoming games…
