Charity organization speaks to IB students about how to ‘LiNK’ emotions with North Korean struggles

On Friday, Feb. 26th, members of the Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) association came to the high school to speak to IB students about the perils of this secretive country. Members of this organization emailed out several schools, asking to come speak to students regarding the situation. IB sponsor Jeb Puryear was one of the many emailed, and organized the event at the school. IB students learn about North Korea through fundraiser
Staff writer Paige Wilson A new fundraiser came to visit the IB class. The fundraiser was called LiNK. Its purpose to raise awarness about North Korea and the people trying to escape this complete communist country. The presentation included a video about undercover filmers in North Korea filming the truth about the country. The tape explored the sides of poverty and ruling in complete fear that occurs in the country. There are concentration camps that house the non belivers or famlies of non belivers. IB links with North Korea
By Julia Kim Staff Writer On Feb. 26, LiNK will present the crisis in North Korea to International Baccalaureate students. The visitors will speak from fifth to seventh period and show both a screening of a documentary, Inside North Korea, and make a presentation. LiNK is a non-profit organization that travels the country and attempts to educate, protect, advocate, provide and empower the North Korean people. Although the group does not charge for speaking, they ask for a honorarium of $100 to cover expenses. For more information, click here.
