Lewisville’s best kept secret
By Loren Hughes Staff Writer Lewisville doesn’t quite ring a bell as one of the most entertaining and exciting cities in Dallas, so what exactly is Lewisville’s best kept secret? The Cinemark dollar theater. Many students know about the Cinemark dollar theater, but very few take advantage of it. After seeing almost five movies there in the past two weeks, I realized the other day how much of my time I spend at the dollar theater — but yet I spend no more than 5 dollars. A few years ago, before movies cost an outrageous amount of money to get into, my friends and I never really thought twice about the dollar theater. The dollar…
A look into the playoffs
By Nathan Reck Assistant Sports Editor Football: At 8-1 the Cowboys clinched a playoff berth with their third district win of the year in a 48 point blowout of Lewisville. Now all that remains for Coppell before the playoffs kick off is their final district game against Flower Mound on Friday night. While the game can’t keep the cowboys out of the playoffs a loss could pit the team against a much tougher first round matchup in Euless Trinity as opposed to playing a team with a worse record such as Keller in the opening round. More on who the football team will face in the first round of the playoffs will come following the…
Coppell milks Farmers for all they’re worth
by Blake Seitz Sports Editor Coppell has had bad luck with turnovers this year, and Friday night was no exception. The curse went both ways in yesterday’s game against Lewisville, though, allowing the Cowboys to post a decisive 48-0 win. The offense put up convincing numbers against a lackluster Lewisville defense. Senior quarterback Hayden Hawk threw for one touchdown on the night, a low number only because Coppell’s ground game was unstoppable in the red zone: five of Coppell’s six touchdowns were on runs of less than five yards. Senior running back Cam McDaniel was once again the offense’s workhorse, scoring all five of the touchdowns mentioned above. He was not confined to a role…
Coppell looks to harvest Farmers
By Andy Tabor Staff Writer The Coppell Cowboys look to stay in second place in district tonight against the Lewisville Fighting Farmers. This is a must win for the Cowboys, who could clinch a playoff spot in the tough and parity filled district 6-5A. Lewisville comes limping in at 0-3 in district play and 2-6 overall. Coppell comes into the game 7-1 and 2-1 in district with their only loss being at Southlake Carroll. This game should be a high scoring affair for the Cowboys, given that the Lewisville defense has given up at least 50 points in every district game while the Cowboys rattled off an impressive 42 points against a tough Flower Mound…
Dig for the Cure a big success
By Andy Tabor Staff Writer Tuesday night the Coppell Cowgirls hosted the annual Dig for the Cure match against the Lewisville Fighting Farmers. Coppell won in three games 25-16, 25-14, and 25-19, and never had much trouble controlling the match from the start. The game opened with a photo of the two teams with pink “Dig for the Cure” t-shirts on. The photo represented unity and togetherness before the match. “I think us lining up with Lewisville for a photo was a special moment.” Coach Sherri Hankins said. “It showed the togetherness we both have in fighting for breast cancer awareness and research.” Also before the game each of the team captains read a short…
