First pep rally a success

By Caroline Carter Staff Writer Friday September 2, Coppell High School had their first pep rally of the year. With different performances, it definitely pumped up the students for tonight’s game versus the Arlington Colts. The out door pep rally was a great experience for the students of CHS. The pep rally started of with a performance from Vivace singing of the National Anthem. Then the Lariettes preformed a field pom routine to “Come on Feel the Noize”. Following the Lariettes, freshman, junior varsity, and varsity cheerleaders preformed a western theme cheer routine.  However, halfway though the routine, there was some technical issues with the music. Another fun-filled, memorable banquet for Lariettes

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager The annual banquet for Coppell High School’s Varsity Drill Team was another success as Lariettes and their dates danced the night away at the Omni in Lewisville Saturday night. As a way for Lariettes and especially seniors to celebrate a memory-filled year, the banquet, this year planned by Amanda Olson, President of Lariettes, featured dinner, awards and recognition as well as a dance party for the last hours. Lasting until 12 o’ clock midnight, dancers and their dates were able to squeeze the last drops of the 2011 banquet which took countless hours of planning. CHS Organizations begin prep for next year

Beth Anne Carroll Staff Writer With the closing weeks of the school year only a couple of months away, it is time for some of Coppell High School’s organizations to start thinking about next year. Many clubs and teams have started advertising membership and auditions for the 2011-2012 school year. Lariettes, Silver Stars and Coppell Cheer all have informational meetings and tryouts within the next month. The Academic Decathlon team has an information meeting this week. Applications to be a member of the Red Jackets organization are also available starting today. Lariettes take fourth place for second weekend in a row

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager The past weekend, the Lariettes had the opportunity to show off their talents once again at the American Dance/Drill Team Competition of Texas, also known as the Texas Dance Classic. After weeks of personal preparation for solos and a year’s worth of morning practices in prep for football season, pep rallies and competitions like this, the Coppell Lariettes proceeded to dominate at Rowlett High School, competiing in pom, jazz, hip-hop and kick, coming into fourth place overall. The Lariettes also won fourth place overall in their Crowd Pleasers competition the previous weekend, hosted at Timber Creek High School Feb. 19th. Knitting for the Needy

Created by Lariettes, the idea for the Knitting for the Needy club came to them as an accident. “A few of my Lariette friends began trying to pass the time for the long drive on the way to Midland for one of our playoff games and a few of them had brought needles and yarn,” Junior and Public Relations officer Allison Messimer said. “Someone, we always forget who, said, ‘What if we started a club for this?’ Then I said, ‘Knitting for the Needy,’ just because it was sort of catchy and we began bouncing…

Lariette’s clears out the competition

Rebecca Neumann Entertainment Editor This weekend, the Coppell High School Lariettes performed at the annual Crowd Pleasers competition at Timber Creek High School in Keller. The team received first place in jazz, kick and hip-hop and first runner up in pom. They also received choreography awards in jazz and pom. The Lariettes also were the first runners up for “Best In Class”, which is how teams are divided up into categories, and fourth place out of the entire competition. Coppell Lariettes hold annual showoffs before taking off to competition

Julianne Cauley Staff Writer The Coppell Lariettes are preparing to start their competition season and tomorrow night they are giving Coppell students and parents a taste of what they have got. Tomorrow night, the team will have their annual Lariettes showoffs at 7:00, in the Coppell High School main gym. The night will spotlight  solos, officers, and team routines from both the Lariettes and the JV Silver Stars Drill Team. Admission to this event will be 5 dollars. The Lariettes will compete this weekend at Timber Creek High School as well as at Rowlett High School the following weekend.

Lariettes prove they have reason to ‘show off’

Beginning days after football season, the Lariettes start prepping for their contest season, when they have the opportunity to display their talent and precision. In preparation for their contest, the Lariettes host an annual “Showoffs,” where they perform their competition dances as a dress rehearsal in front of an audience to display their dances for the community. Lariettes Showoffs Tonight

Each year, the Lariettes perform their Showoffs as a way for the community to get to see their dances and also for the Lariettes to get to do a run through of their show. Showoffs will be in the gym tonight at 7:30 p.m. and the cost of admission is $5. The Lariettes will perform their pom, kick, jazz and modern dances.
