Two hockey powerhouses do battle Thursday

By John Loop Staff Writer This Thursday, the Coppell Cowboy varsity hockey team (5-4) will face a strong skating Jesuit Rangers team at Miller Ice Rink in Farmers Branch. Jesuit as an offense is very quick and good at scoring points, as they have already scored 39 goals so far this season. The Rangers leaders in points, forwards Hayden Meshell and Nick Alexander, have the ability to score multiple goals as well as set up others for scoring chances. Coppell will give the Rangers a good game, as Janson Polk and Jason Reyes anchor the Cowboys offensive front. As for the defensive side, goalie Parker Johnston and his cohort of defensemen have yet to hold…

Larson went 12-of-16 for 157 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions that ultimately kept the game close. The Jesuit defense also received a heavy dose of Coppell junior running back Luke…

Band to honor victims of 9/11

By Caroline Carter Staff Writer With the ten-year anniversary of 9/11 approaching this Sunday, Coppell High School’s and Jesuit’s band planned a special pre-game performance to honor those who lost their lives at tonight’s game. It is a very unique game for Coppell and Jesuit, the opposing team, as ten years ago; Coppell played Jesuit in an away game three days after the twin towers were hit.  Both bands have planned and rehearsed a performance that is set to begin about thirty minutes before the actual game begins. The two songs chosen to play are “Amazing Grace” and “The Star Spangled Banner”. Both bands will play and create a formation together. It is sure to…

Coppell vs. Jesuit preview

By Chris Reagan Staff writer The past two games have started a little rough for the Cowboys, falling behind early and having to play catch up. In the second half Coppell has outscored opponents 34-0. The defense is going to have to be on the ball early in the game if they want to keep up with the high powered Jesuit offense that has scored over 40 points in their first two games. Coppell will have to focus on stopping the passing game and key into top receiver Jake Oliver who already has 406 yards this season and five touchdowns. The linebackers are going to have to also put pressure on quarterback Jack Brezette in…

Lacrosse championship: inside the locker room

By Chase Porter Staff Writer Being a three year varsity lacrosse player has given me the unique chance to experience what really goes on before and after the state championship games. In the locker room everyone was pretty silent, everyone was either listening to music or just starring at the floor. Most of the seniors and starters isolated themselves and focused on the game. Finally, all the coaches called us around and we discussed the game; going over the offenses and defenses one more time just to make sure everyone had it down. After a short pep talk and a lot of yelling and banging on lockers everybody suited up and lined up in the…

Boys soccer to compete with nation’s heavyweight

By Gaby Moran Staff Writer   Usually, for people to see the nation’s top teams in soccer compete against each other, they have to make a trip across the country. However, in this circumstance, people only have to travel to District 6-5A matches to see the best. According to ESPN Rise Fab 50, Coppell moved up 17 spots from last year to being ranked 16th in the nation this year. While that is very good, Coppell still has to compete against a few top of the teams in the nation before going to playoffs. “We’ve put a lot of work and practice into the preseason so we’re ready to see it all come together and…
