Hoops for Heart rescheduled due to inclement weather
Mary Whitfill Features Editor Coppell’s Hoops for Heart basketball games have been rescheduled for Monday night, beginning at 6 pm. After massive amounts of snow and ice took over the North Dallas area, the roads were considered unsafe and the games, originally scheduled for Feb. 1, were postponed. Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will play games tonight, with all proceeds from one game going towards the American Heart Association. Not the first year for the fundraiser, the 2010 Coppell Hoops for Heart raised over $1,000 in their Feb. 9 game against the Marcus Marauders. This year, the teams have aimed to raise triple their dollar from last year.
CHS joins the fight against heart disease
By Mary Whitfill Staff Writer Did you know heart disease causes 26 percent of deaths in the United States? Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women? Coppell ISD does, and schools are teaming up to help fight. On Feb. 9, both the CHS girls and boys basketball teams will be playing for the American Heart Association (AHA) fundraiser, Hoops for Heart.
