FIRST competition provides Coppell engineering team valuable insights

by Divya Kumar News Editor After competing for the first time in the FIRST Robotics competition, the Coppell engineering team has learned valuable lessons to put in tact when preparing again next year. After recieving 40th out of 55 teams, the Coppell team has learned ways to improve for next year. The competition officially began last Thursday, March 25. On the first day, the team had their first few practice matches and time to fix their robot, which they had built six weeks earlier, to navigate through a soccer field and shoot goals. Steaks high for Mad Cows: Coppell engineering team to compete in FIRST competition

by Divya Kumar News Editor The Coppell FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) team has entered their first year of competition, leaving on Thurs., March 25 for Oklahoma. A group of 14 students, two from NTH@C and the rest a part of CHS, have been working diligently for the last six weeks up till this event. The FIRST competition requires students to build a robot in response to a “problem” they are presented with sometime in Jan. For the next six weeks, these students are instructed to program this robot to complete a series of tasks. Once this time is complete, the robot is sealed up, and students are no longer allowed…

FIRST robotics kickoff this Saturday

by Divya Kumar News Editor This Saturday, December 9th, kicks off the start of FIRST Robotics competition. Nationwide,  high school teams have the opportunity to begin preparing for the competition, which will take place six weeks later. At the Kickoff, the CHS FIRST team can meet up with other teams around the area in order to compare notes, pick up the Kit of Parts, which contains the necessary components in order to build the robot, as well as getting to know other people in other schools and districts competing.
