First performance of the Vivacé! dessert show a hit

By Caroline Carter Staff Writer Filled with songs off of Broadway and contemporary songs by Adele, Vivacé’s first performance of their annual dessert show was a huge success. At 7:00 on Friday night, students, families and other fans packed the auditorium of CHS in order to experience one of the most popular events of the winter. Their performances included several group numbers to songs such as “Thriller”, “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Nicest Kids in Town”. In between the group numbers, members of Vivacé! preformed solos and duets to more contemporary songs including “Hometown Glory” and “Bless the Broken Road”. “It was a really great performance,” Sophomore Madeline Saiter said, “I liked seeing my friends perform…

Pretty Little Liars sweeping CHS

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager “PLL, PLL! PLL’s on tonight!” If you follow the show, there’s no doubt that you know what those three innocent letters stand for. It calls for watching parties, not soley for the season premier and finale but for each episode for which Coppell High students flock together to see the pretty little liars on ABC Family. The show, based off of Sara Shepard’s book series Pretty Little Liars (can be ordered online at Barnes and Noble), follows 5 high school girls after their best friend’s murder. It’s fun to watch: critique the girls’ fashion, chatter about who is the prettiest cast member and blindly guess who ’A’ (the name assigned to the mysterious texter who constantly haunts and…

“Glee” takes the lead at Golden Globe Nominations

Paige Wilson Asst. Business Manager Some TV shows in their second year fail to keep a strong hold on award nominations, but for “Glee” this is not the case. “Glee” was not only nominated for a Golden Globe this year, they were nominated for more Golden Globes than they were last year taking the lead in the top number of nominations. Matthew Morrison, who plays Will on the show, is up for best actor in a comedy. Catch the Golden Globes coming soon in January. To learn more about the success of “Glee” click here.

“Glee” open casting call coming to Dallas

Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief Love FOX’s Emmy-winning show “Glee”? Want to be a part of it? Well, now’s your chance: the producers will be holding an open casting call for possible new characters on January 8 and 9. The exact time and place are to be announced, but the producers have released a list of audition songs actors can choose from to sing (16 bars, acappella) at the audition. And, unfortunately, if you’re under 18, you can’t audition. For full requirements and details, check the audition page.

Falling in love with Glee once again.

Jane Kim Staff Writer Faithful fans of Glee have been watching the show that comes up every Tuesday at 8/7c. The show has been through its ups and downs and is well on its way on it’s second season. Last night’s episode was very entertaining and quite stupid if you ask me. The storyline of this episode starts when Sue Sylvester “accidentally” gets Principal Figgins and Will Schuester, the Glee teacher sick. Sue got Figgins to believe that he has caught a rare strain of monkey flu, which of course was false but Figgins was gullible to believe it and assigned Sue as the substituting principal until he comes back. Schuester starts to get really sick…

Puck makes return on Glee

Paige Wilson Ast. Business Manager Last night Puck, Mark Salling made his return to Mckinley High school after his trip to juvie. He made quite an entrance singing “One Love” with Artie. Glee was able to conquer another teen issue homosexuality. We have seen Kurt brush of jokes bullying for numerous episodes but his emotional wall seems to be crushing down around him. This is a vile topic at this point in time because in recent months there has been several gay related suicides in the result of bullying. Kurt goes to an all boys school to potentially change schools and ends up meeting a new love interest. The episode includes songs like Teenage dream…

Glee rocks Rocky Horror

Paige Wilson Ast. Business Manager Last night Glee conqured the risque cult movie Rocky Horror. The episode emcompassed everything we love about Glee: drama, great music, and humor. It was suprising to me that the episode was able to stay true to the original but, not cross the boundaries. The drama had to be the best part of it, Will trying to steal Emma from new boy friend Carl, played by John Stamos. I was suprised the two didn’t break into a full on “man fight”. The best musical number would have to be the “Time Warp”. Glee will be off for two weeks. To see previews for the next episode and more click here.

Vivace! dessert show offers sweet treat for audiences

Ashleigh Heaton Editor-in-Chief It is kind of like “Glee”, minus Sue Sylvester and plus a free dessert. That’s right: the varsity Vivace! show choir will be presenting its annual dessert show on Nov. 19 and 20, promising a night of song, dance and entertainment for all. The night will consist of 12 full ensemble numbers as well as several “filler” solo dance and song pieces for members to show of their individual talent. Viewers should expect to see a range of musical numbers, from Broadway show tunes to hit “Glee” songs such as “No Air” and “Jump”. “I think Vivace! is such a fun group and we do a variety of different numbers from different…

“Glee” features Britney Spears in latest episode

Rebecca Neumann Entertainment Editor Tonight’s eagerly awaited “Glee” lives up to the hype. The Britney Spears musical tribute features the hit songs “Toxic” and “Hit me baby one more time”, though the show does exclude some of her other popular hits. The episode centers around the club members’ hallucinations during dental procedures. Several of the characters have dream-like musical numbers where they interpret Spears’ songs and music videos. However, the fan-favorite songs “Lucky” and “Circus” were not among the songs performed. Despite this, the episode still showcased great performances and original interpretations. Lea Michele’s “Hit me baby one more time” gave a unique twist to the 90′s hit and Kevin McHale’s version of “Stronger” showed…

Glee season two comeback

Staff writer Paige Wilson Last night hit comedy series Glee premired its second season on Fox. And of course as usual it never disapoints. This year it looks like new students could be joining glee club. Most recent the new kid who has taken Finn’s spot as the football teams quarterback, who sang Travie Mcoy and Bruno Mars hit Billionarie. However with the new female football coaches harsh attitude has him to scared of trying out after she kicked Finn off the team. Other hit songs such as Empire State of mind by Jay z and Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce were among the other songs preformed. It also seems like there is more…
