She is being recognized for leading Coppell’s girl’s varsity soccer team to its first state title, won in her sophomore year, among her many other feats as a student and soccer player. Her front-cover spread reads “Stand Up: all-American Chiomaga Ubogagu takes over when it counts”, and her 4-page spread features her history with the sport, family, academics as well some of Ubagugo’s playing history and fun-facts. Cowgirls strike down Keller, look to Allen Eagles tonight
By Andy Tabor The CHS Cowgirls got off to a great start Tuesday by beating the Keller Central Chargers 4-1. Goals were scored by seniors Katie Bass and Alyssa Diggs, junior Chioma Ubogagu, and sophomore Lindsey Meyer. The Cowgirls are very experienced in the playoffs as they have won last year’s state championship. The team will play against the Allen Eagles Friday at 6 p.m. at Hebron. The rest of district 6-5A however did not fair as well as the Cowgirls did. Hebron lost to Keller in dribble downs and Flower Mound Marcus lost to Colleyville Heritage. Coppell soccer teams last District games tonight

JV 2 starts at 4:30 p.m., JV 1 starts at approximately 6 p.m., and varsity starts around 7:30 p.m. Although the Cowgirls already clenched the first place spot of District 6-5A for playoffs, tonight is Senior Night honoring all the senior players and their soccer careers at CHS. Rise names junior midfielder top recruit in nation
by Caitlin Conner Staff Writer Junior Chioma Ubogagu was recently named one of the top recruits in the area for colleges according to ESPN the Rise magazine. According to Rise, Ubogagu is “arguably the nation’s number one recruit from the class of 2011 and the key cog in Coppell’s run to last season’s Class 5A state title.” “I think it’s a great honor personally,” Ubogagu said. “I have always wanted to be one of the best players, so being selected as a top recruit in a way lets me know I am somewhat reaching my goal. Girls soccer feels pressure to succeed after championship run
by Blake Seitz Sports Editor Highly successful teams always feel the heat—from their fans, from the press and from inside the organization—to stay on top. The girls soccer team, with its strong cast of returning players and number one rankings in the state and in the nation, is no exception. Just four games into the 2010 preseason, the Cowgirls were already limping along with a lackluster record, 2-2. The transition from last season’s championship team to this season was obviously going to be tougher than expected. CHS soccer season openers at end of break

Boys will play at 2 p.m. at home against Justin Northwest. Girls will play a total of three games at Lake Highlands in Dallas.
