Southlake anticipation
By Chase Porter Staff Writer Three years ago I was a freshman here at CHS and the football game I most vividly remeber is the victory we had over Southlake. I assume that all of us know about our bitter rivalry with the Dragons, but if you do not I suggest you get with the picture. They are one of our oldest rivals stretching all the way back to the 90′s (I know, a long time right?). They have even given us one of our oldest traditions- the plunger boy. Also, they give us one game a year where we can legitimately storm the field and that brings me to 3 years ago. Obviously, large amounts…
Halo: Reach Review
Chase Porter Staff Writer It has been a big year for many games including Fallout and Call of Duty, but one of the most anticipated of all has been the release of Halo: Reach. Gaming has been around for decades now starting with the original Nintendo 64 and the Playstation with games like James Bond and Super Smash Bros, to now with the Xbox 360, Wii and the Playstation 3. All of these new gaming platforms have extremely anticipated games but the Xbox 360 has teenagers lining up for the last halo in the Halo saga of games. In 2001, the phenomenon began with the release of the original Halo. This first person shooter spawned…
Being a Silver Spur
Chase Porter Staff Writer Being a Silver Spur is one of the most exciting and exhausting experiences of my life. Being a Spur makes you endure large amounts of pain because of all the running and pushups but at the same time it’s just fun to be apart of the event. Games like tonight are probably the most painful because of the lack of competition and numerous amounts of touchdowns on our side. This means we have to run the flags the length of the filed and then do however many pushups are required. I’ll admit most of the time I resort to fake pushups but thats only because I’m out of shape. The fun…

The profits go to activities, events and other needs at Lakeside. The entry fee for the Lakeside Carnival is $15. The entry fee includes a punch pass that…
10 things to do while waiting for New Moon
By Rebecca Fowler Staff Writer It’s finally here. The midnight premiere we have been anticipating for a year: the Twilight saga’s second film, New Moon. Hundreds of girls will be flooding to the theater tonight to see Edward, Bella and Jacob live their extraordinary lives on the big screen. Many—including my group of friends and I—are going to the late-night shows but will show up to the theater two or three hours before the movie actually starts in order to get good seats. Therefore, there will be a lot of sitting around, trying to find something to do. Thankfully, I’m here to save the day. Here are a few ideas to help you pass the…
CHS enjoys hacky sacking
How many times have you walked by a group of kids in a circle throwing a small bag around using only their feet?
