Kid Country 2012: let the fundraising begin

Mary Whitfill Features Editor The city of Coppell recently approved the plans to begin a redesign of Kid Country playgroud; one of the most iconic landmarks in Coppell. Now that the plans for ‘Kid Country 2012’ have been approved the city is looking to its residents to rack up the funds and raise money. When originally built, the park was said to have a 15 year life span. Going on its 19th year, the city felt it was time for a remodel, rather than demolition, to keep the park’s traditions alive. The Sidekick’s fundraiser at Mooyah

April 14 is holding a fundraiser at Mooyah Burgers and Fries, located at Sandy Lake and Denton Tap, where from 5 to 10 pm 20 percent of your meal order will go to yours truly, The Sidekick, ranked 7th in the nation by the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention. There will be a Sidekick member with a jar to collect receipts in order for a portion to go to the newspaper. Wheels on the bus go round, as budget stretches thin

Rebecca Neumann Staff Writer With all of the fun activities clubs and organizations at CHS get to do, the price of traveling can be the biggest challenge for these groups. Some may be surprised that some organizations are limited to the number of competitions they can compete in because of the price of buses. CHS rents buses exclusively from Dallas County Transportation at the rate of $40 per hour. According to its official Web site, Dallas County Transportation is one of the largest fleets of school buses in the United States with about 1,700 buses.
