Frances Ruiz Staff Writer While no thoughts are more terrifying to an incoming freshman than mercilessly being thrown over the senior bridge or having to eat the sack lunch mom packed alone in the bathroom, certain measures have been taken by Coppell High School and New Tech High@Coppell to help students adjust to the upcoming period of change and transition. Taking place from Feb. 15-17, eighth graders throughout CISD ventured outside of their CMS North, East and West comfort zones to bravely face the unknowns of high school. Freshmen registration expo to be held this month
By Rebecca Fowler Staff Writer It’s spring of 2010—time for seniors to move out and incoming freshmen to find their footing in either of the Coppell high schools: Coppell Senior High or New Tech. To help new high schoolers and their parents feel more comfortable with the transition out of middle school, a Freshmen Registration Expo will be held from 6:30-8:30 on Thursday, Feb.18. Information about Coppell High School will be given—including facts about the new “Academies” program that will be beginning next year. Specific courses will be highlighted, and teachers will be available to talk with students. For questions, contact CHS at 214-496-6100.
Fab freshmen making an impact for Coppell
By Andy Tabor Staff Writer The Cowgirls volleyball team is predicted to be a contender this season for a Class 5A state championship. Joining the Cowgirls team this year, are two prospects making major impacts. Both are freshman, and both are 6’1”. Freshmen Cassidy Pickrell and Erica Bohannon will play big roles on the varsity squad. This is the first time in Coppell history that two freshman have been on the varsity squad.
