Students have been buzzing about the chance to leave school and get some fresh air. “I’m really excited to get a break from school for a few hours and spend time with my friends,” senior Isabel Olivas said. There are many places to eat close to the high school: like Sonic, Wendy’s and Subway. Hopefully, students will be able…

Putting effort in school gets you more than the grade, Cowlishaw says

By Ben Cowlishaw Online Copy Editor CJ Wilson, first in the Rangers’ starting pitcher rotation, has a career ERA of 3.60. My GPA has fallen nervously close to that number. Most freshmen go into their first year of high school hearing the promise from upperclassmen: “freshman year doesn’t matter”. Most still put forth their full effort, make good grades and get a high ranking. There’s a few, including me, that took those words to heart; it has taken me up until now to realize the ramifications of what I’ve done, and more importantly, what I haven’t. Counselor Chastity Lansdell knows that many students have the impression that their freshman year doesn’t matter, however, it sets…

The dance will have drinks, snacks, a DJ, and other activities if your not into dancing including ping pong. I know exactly what your…

Juniors take EOC test

Chase Porter Staff Writer Today, April 7, Juniors and selected freshmen classes took the EOC test or the End of Course Exam that will replace the TAKS tests in the coming years. The EOC, which is similar to the TAKS in which it is split into science, english, math and history sections. I, myself being a member of the junior class, had the displeasure of taking the EOC test today in the small gym. I found it to be even easier than the TAKS and a lot shorter than the TAKS from what I remember. Also, I’m not even sure why juniors were forced to take the test because we won’t have to take the…

Teen Leadership experiences faux intoxication

by Ashley Attanucci Staff Writer As drug and alcohol abuse grows rampant among teenagers, Coppell High School’s freshmen Teen Leadership/Health classes take initiative to give students a first-hand experience on what drunk driving is like. On May 5, freshmen Teen Leadership/ Health classes took a step out into the hall and into the shoes of a drunk driver with a demonstration of Fatal Vision. Simulation of being under the influence was made capable by dizzy-making goggles as students were challenged to walk a straight-line, pick up dropped keys and catch a ball. “It seems easy whenever you’re not drunk, while [actually] your body acts totally different,” freshman Megan Kennedy said. “It’s just another reason not…
