Chase Porter Staff Writer In the wide world of sports one league trumps all others. No it’s not the NFL or the NBA, it’s the intramural league at Coppell High School. Intramurals have been present here for three years and they are currently bigger than ever. They allow students to play sports for the fun of the game instead of being on one of the school teams. Also, the students get to play a wide range of sports from Ultimate Frisbee to dodge ball and create their own teams within their group of friends. Flag football playoffs this Saturday
By Travis Bremner Staff Writer The intramural flag football season has come to its end, the top nine – yes, nine – have advanced to the postseason single-elimination tournament Saturday, March 6. Each conference (division) has an undefeated team, last year’s champion Dark Blue in the Eastern Conference and Cause of Destruction in Western Conference, each team accumulated the most possible point total, 15. The rest of the Eastern Conference played out like this, The U tallied 13 points, Kryptonite and the Derek Andersons got nine and Dewy’s team received seven. But what about the high school football on Saturday mornings? No, it’s not playoffs—it’s intramural flag football. The rules are simple. Two halves of fifteen minutes each; a pulled flag or a push out of bounds is a tackle. The obvious rule: score as much as you can. This is only the second year that flag football has been fielded as part of Coppell’s intramural program, but already the competition and rivalries are heating up.
