EMAC showcase successful

By Kelly Stewart Opinions Editor Newspaper advisor Chase Wofford got a surprise today when he received an ‘I Rock CHS’ T-shirt for putting together a very successful EMAC showcase. The EMAC showcase is set up every year to display the projects and various stories that the EMAC students have been working on. It allows them to show off all of the hard work they have done in the first semester, and lets parents and other students see into the world of EMAC. Lots of time and effort is required to pull it off successfully, and Wofford has done just that. Good job, and good luck for next year!

By Christina Burke Staff Writer One of the many advantages of being in the academies at Coppell High School is being able to take part in extraordinary opportunities that are not available to other students at the school. In my time with the Emerging Media and Communications (EMAC) Academy, I have had many experiences that are great for a developing journalism student such as myself. My most recent experience was a question and answer session with the experienced journalist, Katie Couric. Couric’s well-known television career began in 1979 as a ‘low-level’ assistant for ABC news. She has made it all the way from brewing coffee and answering phones to being the first woman to regularly…

EMAC journalists put skills to work at downtown demonstration

Michelle Mayes Guest Blogger While caught in the cross fire of beating drums, colorful posters, and black cement roads flashing red with police lights, El Centro college demonstrators shouted above the noise “Can’t vote, can’t drink, don’t take away our right to think.” And at the sight of two demonstrators being dragged away by the Dallas Police, the Coppell emerging media students were able to feel more than just the chill in the air. They were able to see journalism and history leap into action. A group of 40 students, five teachers and five parent chaperones from the Coppell High School Emerging Media and Communication (EMAC) Academy were split up into two groups on March…

EMAC visits Cowboys Stadium

Story by Rebecca Neumann Entertainment Editor Video by Davis DeLoach and Chris Reagan Cowboys Stadium offers many things: great entertainment, great food, great facilities, and, for the students of the Coppell High School EMAC academy, a great opportunity to learn about media and technology. For the first part of their visit, they filmed video introductions, took pictures of the massive structure and scribbled…
