For the first time, EcoCoppell has put their mark on Earthfest, a community event that teaches residents how to live a “greener” life. Coppell Community “Cleans Up”

On April 30, the city of Coppell tried to help its citizens become more eco-friendly. During Coppell’s annual Earthfest activities, the community held the “Clean up, Fix up” drive. The drive allowed people to bring in electronics, clothes, household items and large trash items to be recycled or cleaned up, instead of becoming trash piled up at their residence. “Basically, folks just drive through with their items and drop them off to be recycled or shredded,” Coppell community programs director Cristal Rollins said. Coppell prepares for Earthfest on April 30th

Those who attend, particularly residents off Coppell, can dispose of their old electronics, shred household documents, dispose of their large trash items and donate their usable household goods. During this time, the community comes together in efforts to “Keep Coppell Beautiful” and create a more eco-friendly environment by showcasing the theme, “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.” Clean Coppell runs from April 16-30. The two week event involves local Coppell Families, schools and other organizations willing to get down and dirty to beautify our city. In addition to the festivities at the plaza, the annual “Clean Up, Fix Up” collection will be held in the parking lot of Town Center Elementary located at 185 N. Heartz Road from 10AM to 2PM. Clean Coppell keeps Coppell green

By Julia Kim Staff Writer Clean Coppell 2010 will start on Saturday, April 10 and continue for two weeks until Saturday, April 24 when the program will wrap up with the city’s annual Earthfest which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Center. This cleanup event is organized by Keep Coppell Beautiful, a nonprofit organization that promotes waste reduction, litter prevention, beautification and environmental sustainability. Although Clean Coppell is held every year, this is the second year Coppell will have this fourteen day period of cleaning up.
