Cowgirls hunt the Hawks in play-offs

Sammy Robben Staff Writer The Coppell Cowgirls finished their district season on Tuesday, playing their final game against Denton Guyer. Their win against Guyer made their final overall record 30-11 and their final district record 10-4. This placed them at number three in the 7-5A district. The leaders of the Denton Guyer game were Cassidy pickrell who got 10 kills after coming off a knee injury. Smith follows suit as freshmen on varsity volleyball

By: Sammy Robben Staff Writer “Age is but a number.” This is statement is true of Coppell High School freshman volleyball player Haley Smith, who has proved that underclassmen can play a big role on the varsity roster. Smith recently moved up to the varsity team; though not the first, Smith is one of only four freshmen to make varsity in the last 21 years. Cowgirls suffer another district loss

Sammy Robben Staff Writer It was a night of rivalry for all of Coppell on Friday night as both the football and volleyball teams took on the Southlake Dragons, but the Coppell Cowgirls volleyball team wasn’t as lucky as Football. The Cowgirls were defeated by the Southlake Dragons in three sets (14-25, 19-25, 21-25). They tried to come back during the third game, but couldn’t in the end. This loss puts them at a 7-4 district record. Cowgirls dig for the cure

Sammy Robben Staff Writer The Coppell volleyball team will be digging for the cure tomorrow as they have their 4th annual dig for the cure fundraiser, raising money for breast cancer awareness. The girls sale t-shirts and ask for pledges or donations. The more digs they have the more money they raise to go towards Komen Dallas County.                 The girls will be playing Justin Northwest at Coppell High School at 6:30. They have a 3-2 district record and hope to not only raise money but to improve their record to 4-2. Good luck cowgirls.

Solitary senior: Hatton steps up as team leader

Sammy Robben Staff Writer Four years ago, girls filled volleyball tryouts dreaming of playing volleyball throughout their high school careers, but they slowly faded away until there was one: senior outside hitter Chandler Hatton. Chandler has gone through the early morning practices, late night matches and weekend tournaments for four years, and remains as the only senior on the varsity team. Despite all of her hard work, all of the friendships and fun she’s had has made it all worth it. “I just love everything about volleyball, I’ve always thought that it was fun and I love how it’s really hard and intense but it’s also kind of girly.” Hatton said. Cowgirls have a 2-1 district record

Sammy Robben Staff Writer The Coppell Cowgirls started out district with a bang. The cowgirls now have a district in record of 2-1. They beat Keller and Fossil ridge but lost to Keller Central after a hard fought game. In their first game, Keller fought hard but couldn’t pull it out. The scores were very close but the cowgirls proved their worth at the end of the three set game. The scores were, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24. Cowgirls First district game

By Sammy Robben Staff Writer The Coppell Cowgirls volleyball team kicks off district tonight against Keller. The game will be at Coppell High School at 6. The Cowgirls pre-season record is 21-6. The team got a new district this year with many new competitors; these include Keller, Fossil Ridge, Keller Central, Saginaw, Denton Guyer, and Northwest. Don’t worry though the cowgirls still get to play the Southlake Dragons, who is the team’s only returning competitor. Coppell Cowgirls go undefeated at tournament

  By Sammy Robben The Coppell cowgirls took first at the Jenny Eckert memorial tournament held this weekend at Coppell High School. The cowgirls beat Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) 25-17 and 25-18, Lewisville 25-13 both sets, and Mansfield legacy 25-13 and 25-21 on Thursday to get into the gold bracket on Saturday. Once they were in the gold bracket the cowgirls played Allen, Plano west, and Dumas. The Cowgirls first game on Saturday was against the Allen Eagles, after a tough match Coppell beat the Eagles in three sets, 25-13, 25-23, and 25-16.
