Bad weather causes cancellations in tennis, soccer
By Travis Bremner Staff Writer Due to the raining and inclement weather all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area, there have been some cancellations of Coppell outdoor sporting events this weekend. The varsity tennis team had a tournament scheduled in Denton Guyer today but the down pour has prevented the matches from taking place. The squad has played fairly well thus far this season, and was looking to continue that, it is unclear when the tournament will be rescheduled. The girls’ varsity soccer was set to face McKinney tonight at McKinney and Saturday’s match with Austin St. Stevens may also be cancelled. Coppell brings down Euless Trinity in first game of season
On Monday Jan. 11, Coppell varsity boys’ soccer played Euless Trinity High School for the first real game of the year and an intense one it was. During the first half, Coppell was aggressive and kept the ball most of the time. While had a few chances to score, the ball mainly went passed the goal. Eight minutes into the game, senior captain Jordan Elgin stepped on number 10 Trojan and sprained his ankle. Coppell boys soccer start season off strong against Justin Northwest
By Gaby Moran Staff Writer On Saturday Jan. 2, Coppell boys soccer teams played Justin Northwest High School at home. All three teams had shut out games against Justin Northwest. The varsity team played at 2 p.m. and beat Justin Northwest two to zero. One goal was scored by junior Alex Broyles in the first half and the second was scored by senior captain Jordan Elgin thanks to an amazing assist by senior Eric Oesch. Defense looked strong the whole game only giving the other team few good chances to score. Both JV teams also played and beat Justin Northwest earlier. CHS soccer season openers at end of break
By Gaby Moran Staff Writer It’s that time of the year again. Coppell High School soccer begins! On Jan. 2, both Coppell girls and guys soccer teams’ seasons begin. Boys will play at 2 p.m. at home against Justin Northwest. Girls will play a total of three games at Lake Highlands in Dallas. They play Midland at noon, Odessa at 1:30 p.m. and Permian at 3 p.m. Directions and more information can be found on chssoccer.com. All should come and support the soccer teams start their seasons.
