By Gaby Moran Staff Writer After the final buzzer of the Division II state championship, fans were cheering excitedly as the Coppell boys lacrosse team dog piled onto each other for their achievement of not just winning of their 21st consecutive game, but their back-to-back State title. “Throughout the whole season, all players played outstanding for each game,” head coach Jared Venia said. “Having a team with so many skilled athletes on the team has improved the level of all the players and it paid off in the end.” On May 8-9, the Cowboys, No. 1 in the state playoffs and Division II, played the semifinals and finals at Highland Park High School in Dallas….

By Gaby Moran Staff Writer This weekend, May 8 to May 9, Coppell boys lacrosse has their DII state tournament in Dallas where they plan to defend their 2009 State title. The Cowboys have dominated all of their opponents all season long and now just have two more games until winning the DII State title again. Coppell plays the semifinals on May 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Highland Park High School. Their South Division opponent has yet to be posted. When the Cowboys win the semifinals, the finals will be on May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Park High School. Come support the Cowboys defend their State title and win back to back seasons.
Coppell lacrosse easily moves on to State
By Gaby Moran Staff Writer After a great weekend and being named Regional Champions, Coppell boys lacrosse team is now heading for their chance for a back to back state champions this coming weekend May 8 to May 9. On May 1, the Cowboys played the Highland Park DII team and easily won 12-2. After being ahead 10-1 in the first half, Cowboys mainly played defense in the second in order to keep a high lead over the Scotts. Goals were made by juniore Trent Dennington, Preston Allison, Tyler Landis and Nate Hruby. After beating the Scotts, Coppell played Plano West on May 2 for the regional finals. By Gaby Moran Staff Writer Coppell Lacrosse plays second round of playoffs tomorrow, Firday May 1. The Cowboys play Highland Park DII team at 3:30 p.m. at Hillcrest High School in Dallas. Coppell played the Scots earlier in the season and won 12-4 at home. As long as they bring the same competitiveness as last time, Cowboys should come home with a win. When the Cowboys pass the second round, Coppell is scheduled to play third round, also the regional championship game, on Sunday May 2 at Hillcrest High School again. Coppell played first round at Coppell Middle School West and playing on their home field was a definite advantage. The undefeated Cowboys played the Plano East Panthers first round. The Cowboys shut out the Panthers with a final score of 11-0. After a great first round, Cowboys are scheduled to play the Highland Park DII team. Coppell Lacrosse takes on McKinney
The Coppell Lacrosse team is finishing their district season with 6 and 0 record in district and an 11 and 0 record overall, putting them in first place in the North District Division II. They have their final game tonight against McKinney in McKinney at 7:30. The lacrosse team won state last year and is looking for another trophy. The 2010 Texas High School Lacrosse League State Championships will be hosted in Highland Park at the Higlander Stadium in University Park. The Championships are to take place May 8-9th. Besides not losing any games, Coppell has been able to beat their opponents with a margin greater than four points. On April 20, their last regular season game against Greenhill takes place and a win would make them the only undefeated team in the district. Coppell Lacrosse Senior Night
Tonight, the Coppell Lacrosse team is playing against Hillcrest at Coppell Middle School West on the Lesley Field. Tonight’s game is also senior night and all senior players and parents will be recognized. The four seniors on the Varsity team that will be recognized are #10 Hayden Hawk, #27 Kosta Saddington, #31 Payton Porter and #45 Glenn Gomez. The team won their game against Highland Park on Wednesday night, continuing their winning streak.
