Local Farmer’s Market hosts first annual Kids’ Day
By Caroline Carter Staff Writer On Saturday, October 21st, the Coppell Farmers Market is holding their first ever Kids’ Day as Saturday will also be national Food Day. It is sure to be a fun event for the entire family. Activities at the Farmer’s Market include face painting for children, a “Favorite Food” contest, and even a distribution of kid friendly recipes for parents to make. Kids’ Day aims to create awareness of changes that can be made to one’s eating habits in order to raise healthy children. It will also teach children how to make their own healthy meals. Coppell Farmer’s Market’s last appearance
Erica Rohde Staff Writer Coppell Farmer’s market is taking one last stride as they will be hosting the market tomorrow on March 12th at the intersection of Bethel Road and Coppell Road in Old Coppell. It starts bright and early at 8 a.m. and lasts for only four hours. The market has been open on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month since January. Coppell Community Gardens serve up more than fresh veggies
Ashley Attanucci Web Manager Video coming soon The Coppell Community Gardens is one of Coppell’s most beautiful and unknown assets, up-kept by the few dozen of dedicated volunteers who wake each Saturday morning to prepare the fruits of their labor for pick-up by the Metrocrest Foodbank. Harvesting, weighing and bagging the produce, tilling soil, mulching, turning compost and fertilizing and watering plots only names a fraction of what it takes to create over 1,642 pounds of edible produce in one winter month. Coppell has two of these volunteer-run gardens, the Helping Hands garden beside Town Center and the Ground Delivery garden beside the Post Office. Farmers Market begins 2010 spring season
Frances Ruiz Staff Writer It seems as though spring has officially arrived with the start of the Coppell Farmer’s Market season. The Farmer’s Market will begin tomorrow morning and continue each saturday until its scheduled closing date of Nov. 20. Held in Old Town Coppell, the market provides community goers with a unique shopping experience as locally grown fruits and vegetables are sold in addition to flowers and herbs. Although there are other markets within the Dallas area, support can be shown by paying a visit to our own and buying from local farmers.

In a celebration of the last Farmers Market of the year, there will be different and special things for sale. Rehoboth Ranch will be delivering turkeys and pre-ordered meats. Dominion Farms will have pre-ordered hams ready for pick up and many of the local vendors will have gift packages for sale. When the Farmers Market resumes in January, they will only take place on the third Saturday of each month; Jan. 16, Feb. 20 and Mar. 20. Beginning in mid April and continuing until November 21, the Coppell Farmers Market is a seasonal event sponsored by the Coppell Community Gardens.
