A different National Championship

By Tanner McCord Staff Writer Recently, Coppell’s National Night Out program was voted 2011′s number one program in the nation in the population category of 15,000-49,999. NNO has voted Coppell number one in the nation in three out of the last six years, and this will be the sixth year in a row that Coppell has held the number one spot in Texas. National Night Out is a program that brings communities together through block parties and other community events to reduce crime and strengthen the community as a whole.

Community fights to feed the hungry

By Julianne Cauley News Editor Similar to last year, Coppell is partnering up with Christian Community Action to fight community hunger. Drop off locations include Coppell Town Center and the public library. The organization is asking for non- perishable items and will be accepting donations through Jan. 2. Donations will not be accepted if partially opened. They are in need of other items besides just non – perishable food, the list can be found here.

New Kid Country design to be unveiled with help from community

Thomas Hair Staff Writer Over two months ago, the people of Coppell were shocked to hear that Kid Country would be torn down as part of the Kid Country 2012 reconstruction plan. Although many were excited at the prospect of a brand new Kid Country, the announcement was laced with sadness for those who had grown up with the wooden landmark and its secrets. Indeed, the iconic playground at Andy Brown East has a rich history, as it was constructed with contributions from the entire community almost twenty years ago. Fine arts exhibit to come Saturday

Addy Buigas-Lopez Staff Writer This upcoming Saturday Coppell ISD fine arts leaders will gather at CHS to showcase music, art and theater productions done by Coppell students. By raising awareness for the fine arts, the organizations hope to inspire the establishment of community fine arts center. Space for the fine arts center has already been allotted and is to begin construction soon.

HART dedicated to saving lives in Irving

Though there are over 3,500 shelters and hundreds more rescue groups in the U.S. that aim to save animals, 11,000 cats and dogs are euthanized each day due to overcrowding alone. Organizations like HART (the Humane Animal Rescue Team), help reduce this number of destroyed, abandoned animals by combating problems locally. Make a Child Smile deadline fast approaching

For its twentieth year, Make a Child Smile allows members of the community to help their neighbors by donating gifts for Coppell children. Participants choose an ornament from the tree at Town Hall which will name a few gifts of the child’s wish list. Those interested in participating should visit the City Secretary’s Department, at Town Center 225 Parkway Blvd., and pick a paper ornament off the holiday tree. “Community” one of the best new comedy series
