Cowgirls take on Colleyville Heritage Friday night
By Chris Reagan Staff Writer After rolling through Flower Mound on Tuesday night winning 3-1 the Cowgirls are taking on Colleyville Heritage in the area round of playoffs. Heritage managed to go 10-1 in district, they’re only loss coming to a tough Grapevine team who ended the season as district champions. Coppell had a similar scenario losing only to district champion Southlake Carroll both times the teams met. Despite the similarities the teams have a couple key differences that play in the Cowgirls favor, the first of which being experience. Cowboys clash with Heritage in round two of playoffs tonight
Peter Sblendorio Sports Editor With their win over Plano on Tuesday, the Coppell Cowboys advanced to the second round of the state playoffs and will take on Colleyville Heritage tonight at Irving MacArthur. The Cowboys were paced in the first round by junior center Jett Raines, who scored 24 points in the win. Raines led Coppell with 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during the regular season. Raines will likely need to be on his ‘A’ game tonight for Coppell against Heritage, who is led primarily by outside threats and could have trouble slowing the 6-6 junior. A look into the playoffs
By Nathan Reck Assistant Sports Editor Football: At 8-1 the Cowboys clinched a playoff berth with their third district win of the year in a 48 point blowout of Lewisville. Now all that remains for Coppell before the playoffs kick off is their final district game against Flower Mound on Friday night. While the game can’t keep the cowboys out of the playoffs a loss could pit the team against a much tougher first round matchup in Euless Trinity as opposed to playing a team with a worse record such as Keller in the opening round.
