Coppell hits a high note with students advancing to Regional auditions

This past weekend, Coppell hosted the first round of the 2010-2001 All-State  auditions. Not only did our school facilitate the event, but we just so happened to dominate it as well. Twenty-seven of our students advanced past District Auditions and will now proceed to Region on October 16th. These students had little time to celebrate their impressive accomplishment though, as the next round is in less than three weeks. With all their attention focused on the pieces used for the first audition, many singers have not had the chance to practice any other pieces until now. Because of this, many are struggling to learn and perfect the next four songs, one of which is in…

Choir members all in unison regarding upcoming district auditions

Ask any choir member in the school, and they will tell you that this Saturday is approaching far too quickly. On Saturday, September 25, CHS will host the first round of Texas All-State choir auditions. Students from across North Texas will gather in our cafeteria early Saturday morning . After waiting in long registration lines, they will receive the “cuts” (certain parts from the audition pieces that will be sung for the audition). They will then be allowed to sing through these cuts only once all together, then no singing is permitted within the waiting area (cafeteria). The audition, though seemingly never-ending, is the least stressful part about the All-State process. Many choir students say…

A Party in the U.S.A

by Ashley Attanucci Staff Writer This past weekend for Coppell was marked with everything Homecoming –the parade, the football game and, for students, the Homecoming dance, appropriately themed “Party in the U.S.A”. While students were dancing Saturday night away at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas, they did not forget to remember the ninth year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Midway through the dance, the music stopped as Principal Hunt took over the mic to commemorate the tragedy. After Alanna Diggs, junior, and Kaci Carroll, sophomore, sang the National Anthem, students observed a moment of silence for remembrance. 9/11 –we shall never forget.

Choir seniors make final dayview at FUMC

Staff Writer Paige Wilson Video By: Savannah Shealy and Tara As the curtain rose, the CHS choir walked across stage and for many of them it would be the last time together. May 18 was the last choir concert of the year and for the seniors it would be the last one to perform with the Coppell choir. The last choir concert sparked multiple emotions. For parents they saw their kids performing for the last time, underclassmen saw it as one of the last times they would perform with their friends who would be departing to college, and seniors saw it as an end of an era. The concert overall profoundly affected all in the…

Boys and girls prepare to battle it out at tomorrow’s pep rally

The acapella choir departs tonight for a competition in New Orleans and will return on Monday afternoon. “The Lariettes are done for the year,” Lariette director Julie Stralow said. “In the senior’s mind – they are done, and I didn’t feel…

The Madrigals have competed in this competition multiple times before and always do well. This year, the Madrigals received the honor of first runner up.
