Wrestling team ready to take down competition this season

By Seth Slover Staff Writer When an individual or a group desires to excel at something, goals have to be in place and the bar has to be set high from the start.  With a new season recently underway, the Coppell wrestling team has its expectations set as high as ever. “We have two goals this season, as always,” coach Chip Lowery said.  “We want to win district and qualify as many kids as we can for all-state.” Thus far, it seems as though the team is in line to achieve a great deal of success, as boys varsity, girls varsity and junior varsity all took first place at the recent Round-Up tournament. Morning marvels

Kimberly Del Angel Staff Writer Every morning at 6:30 a.m. the Coppell Cross Country Team gathers at the field house for a daily run around Coppell High School and the City of Coppell in their efforts of becoming district champs. The cross country team is led by Roxanne Fariss, Donald Youngstedt and Chip Lowery; together they push their athletes through a grueling workout to better their running skills. Every Saturday, they get up at varying times from 4:30-5:30 a.m. to attend meets that will excell their rank in order to earn the tittle of district champions. Johnson tackles a new challenge: wrestling

However, there are always a handful of students that can shine in a couple of sports each year, but only a very few that can shine enough to get college scholarship offers in more than one.  Senior Teddy Johnson, mainly known for his incredible football talent, which earned him a spot on the Oklahoma State University football team, also picked up a new sport this year and performed very well.
