UIL realignment places Coppell in District 5-5A
By Julianne Cauley News Editor Every two years, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) realigns the state’s athletic districts. This morning, Coppell was placed in District 5-5A with some familiar foes. Distrct 5-5A Coppell Denton Ryan Lewisville Lewisville Flower Mound Lewisville Hebron Lewisville Marcus Coppell is currently in District 7-5A with Southlake Carroll, Keller, Keller Fossil Ridge, Keller Central, Denton Guyer, Saginaw and Justin Northwest. The traditional rivalry between Coppell and Southlake Carroll will not occur in district play in the new alignment. However, the school is in Region I along with Coppell and they could go head-to-head in the playoffs or non-district play. Additional realigned districts and regions can be found here.
Record-setting swim team to take on Southlake tomorrow
By Thomas Hair Online Copy Editor On Nov. 18 and 20, the Coppell Swim Team continued their outstanding season by setting four school records at the two-day TISCA (Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association) Competition at the Alfred J Loos Sports Complex. Junior Hayden Henry, son of Coach Patrick Henry, inked his name in the CHS record books once again by setting multiple school records at this competition over Thanksgiving Break. Tomorrow, this record-breaking Cowboys swim team will travel to Southlake for a District meet against their rivals, the Dragons. Coppell Hockey nears end of season
Thomas Hair Staff Writer The 2011 Coppell Cowboys hockey team is loaded with talent and huge potential. No one questions that. Coppell Hockey Board of Directors President Kent Howard called the team “very physical, very fast” and the team had very high expectations before the season. However, this season, that talent and potential hasn’t always translated into victory. It has been a roller coaster ride of a season for the Cowboys. At times, they have dominated the ice, such as their 8-0 rout of Flower Mound. Southlake rivalry continues with basketball team tonight

The Dragons may have a better record but the Cowboys should find a way to win. With many football players, the Coppell team will use the football loss as motivation to play up to their best. With senior Nic Johnston playing on all cylinders and senior Andrew Bourg on his game, the Cowboys should beat a tough Dragon defense who are holding opponents to low point totals. The Southlake Carroll vs. Colleyville Heritage playoff game is running roughly forty minutes late, and the game is still in the second quarter. Cowgirls dominate Southlake in district opener
By Andy Tabor Staff Writer The Coppell Cowgirls sent a powerful message to every 6-5a team Friday night when they played Southlake: Coppell is the team to beat. Coppell’s tenacity was un-matched by every Southlake player. The Cowgirls won in three games, 25-21, 25-20, and 25-23 in an exciting match. Coppell came out fired up leading in every major spot and had the ability to close out a talented Southlake team even when Carroll went on a mini-run of their own. Coppell plays Hebron Tuesday night,away as they look to go 2-0 in district.
