Sweaters for the season

As the winter holiday and break approaches, more and more Coppell High School students are getting into the spirit of the season. Throughout this entire week, students have been sporting “tacky” Christmas sweaters as a means of showing their love for Christmas festivities and the anticipation of the two week break. On Friday, the day before the holiday break, sweaters will be seen at full force and holiday parties will be going on in many classes. In addition to the Christmas parties and activities going on in many classes, students are especially excited about Friday being a half day. Students at the high school will be given a head start on their break being released…

Holiday House, Craft Show just around the corner

By Thomas Hair Online Copy Editor In 1995, Coppell High School hosted the very first Holiday House & Craft Show  to raise funds for graduation night. Since then, the Holiday House & Craft Show has become one of the community’s treasured holiday traditions. On Sunday, November 13, CHS will host the 16th edition of the annual event. Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the closing time of 4:30 p.m. Admission to the Holiday House & Craft Show is only $5 for adults and $3 for students. As in years past, all funds go directly to CHS Project Graduation to ensure a safe and fun graduation night for seniors. Holiday House offers a…

Students weary of school, ready for break

Seth Slover Staff Writer “I am so ready for Thanksgiving break,” Junior Lizzie Bell said. She is by no means the only student who feels this way. As the school year persists, now into the month of November, many students are beginning to “hit a wall” when it comes to school.  Naturally, most students would say that the solution to this problem is the highly anticipated Thanksgiving break.  Thanksgiving break is coming up soon on the Coppell ISD Calendar. “School starts seeming longer and harder the longer we go without a break, so I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving break for that reason, plus I love Thanksgiving as a holiday too,” Junior Courtney Echerd said. With…

Texas Roadtrips

Addy Buigas-Lopez Staff Writer As spring break approaches, students look for interesting things to do to make this week something memorable. Choir people are traveling to Italy, band members are visiting Chicago, and for those not in either, traveling out of state isn’t easy thing to do. But Texas isn’t a place that should be overlooked. Road-trip opportunities await around every bend would make the upcoming week far from ordinary. Corpus Christi: Home to beautiful, smooth beaches and endless blue skies. Corpus Christi also exhibits waterfront restaurants and an arts and museums district within walking distance from many of its hotels. Available as well are numerous camping grounds and chances to stay on the beach…

Christmas break getting you off track?

Chase Porter Staff Writer Here are just a few tips for countering those procrastinating thoughts when it gets close to the holiday break. First, try your hardest to stay focused at school. I know this is a hard task for most of us at school anyways but the best thing to do is get your work done the weeks before breaks so that you don’t have to worry about it. Also, ending for breaks with good grades will let you enjoy your break more than if your failing 7 classes and you have 3 projects. Second, while doing homework and studying make sure you are relaxed and not distracted. I know, for me at least,…

Easy ways to get into the spirit

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager The holidays – our favorite time of year is finally right around the corner. Hannakuh has begun, Christmas is only two weeks away, the weather is cold and snow has already begun to fall (on Sidekick online, of course). Make the most of your December and let the cheer last with a few simple and fun ideas to look forward to: 1. Decorate- it’s one of the easiest things you can do to get into the mood of the holidays. If your parents aren’t in charge of this already, switch out some of the usual decor of your home with something more jolly: place a pointsettia plant as your centerpiece at the…

Anyone else ready for Thanksgiving break?

Jane Kim Staff Writer Although the weather here in Coppell is slowly starting to cool down, the stress levels have yet to follow in pursuit. Especially at the end of the six weeks where teachers are quickly trying to cram in tests, projects and grades. Most students here at CHS would call the week before the end of the sixth weeks crazy week, torture week or super stress week. What a fitting name to this hectic week. Thank goodness that Thanksgiving break is in T-minus 9 days. With everything going on like the various tests and projects, with the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie to be released, the end of the second…

Summer break not efficient schedule

By Mike Pankonien Staff Writer Summer vacation: what’s not to like? Two glorious months of total freedom; no school work, no teachers, no annoying kids blocking your way in the halls. Just you and whatever you want to do…that is until those two glorious months end and you’re hurled back into the school system. When students return to school having forgotten everything they were previously taught and fallen into a lax routine of laziness, is it really wise to postpone returning to school for two months? Wouldn’t a shorter summer be better? Don’t get me wrong, I’m anticipating for summer just as much as the next guy. But what leads to this wrecked condition of…
