Sophomore places 1st in national leadership conference

Michelle Pitcher Opinions Editor When she was approached earlier this year by friends asking her to join their Business Professionals of America team, sophomore Sai Panguluri had no way of knowing the full extent of her success yet to come. In the recent in Washington D.C., Panguluri took home first place, becoming the first sophomore in Coppell High School history to receive this honor. On May 5, Panguluri traveled with CHS’ other national qualifiers, Mitu Bhattatiry, Nimi Bhattatiry, Kim Le, Dinesh Seemakurty, Ashlyn Foster, Alan McClintock and Benjamin Hwang, to Washington to participate in this national competition. Coppell wins first place at BPA nationals in D.C.

Sophomore Sai Panguluri received first place honors at nationals, beating forty other students from across the nation at Human Resources Management. Mitu Bhattatiry advanced to the preliminary rounds in her category of Economic Research and received recognition as being top ten in the nation of BPA. 15-year long sponsor Jan McClintock was recognized at nationals for her long consecutive years of sponsoring BPA; Cindy Wolfe has been assisting and sponsoring the club for the past six years. This year’s members, after having dominated the State competition in Ft. Worth earlier this year, have an opportunity to compete at the national level in Washington D.C. with some of the top presenters in the country. Senior and President Dinesh Seemakurty will lead his members, seniors Allen McClintock, Benjamin Huang, Kim Le and Mitu Bhattatiry as well as juniors Nimi Bhattatiry and Ashlyn Foster sophomore Sai Panguluri to the nation’s headquarters. BPA brings home State trophy for third time

Laura Kattilakoski Staff Writer Coppell High School BPA coordinator Jan McClintock did not hold back when expressing her excitement after the team won the State Business Professional of America Trophy for. “Since it’s our third time, that’s awesome,” McClintock said. “[In BPA] they get to see the real business world, or what it might be like. They have to dress professionally. They also get the benefit of meeting with people from all over the state, or, when we go to nationals, all over the nation. BPA members advance to State competition

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager This past weekend CHS’s Business Professionals of America competed regionally at Dubiski Career High School. Afterseven hours of competing in individual and tea events, the awards ceremony revealed 30 Coppell members who placed and took home a medal as proof to their advancement to the State competition in March.  From March 3 to 5, BPA members will be staying overnight in Fort Worth competing for the opportunity to take the national title in their event. BPA succeeds at regional competition

Laura Kattilakoski Staff Writer On Saturday, January 22, the Business Professionals of America (BPA) competed in the regional competition at Dubiski High School in Grand Prairie. The competition consists of events ranging from interview skills to video production. It is a full-day event, with participants leaving their houses before 7a.m. and the award ceremony taking place at 5p.m. As a whole, Coppell High School was extremely successful, with all members placing in their individual and team events. BPA to compete regionally this Saturday

Ashley Attanucci Web Manager This Saturday, CHS’s club BPA (Business Professionals of America) will compete in their regional competition, this year set to be at Dubiski High School in Grand Prairie  (2990 S Hwy 161, Grand Prairie, TX 75052). The club, headed by President, Senior Dinesh Seemakurty and Vice President, Senior Mitu Bhattatiry will travel to meet competitors at the high school by 7:00 a.m. for this event, which will last until 7:00 p.m. This all-day event (open to all BPA members across the grades) will require members to compete in an individual contest like keyboarding or interviewing skills, as well as compete in their group event, which members have been preparing for all year….

Coppell High School has dozens of clubs to offer, so that everyone can find something they’re interested in. This past week, various clubs have had their first meetings, including Business Professionals of America (BPS), National Art Honor Society (NAHS), HOSA, and Hope for Africa.
