Coppell keeps up streak with 4-1 rout of Keller Fossil Ridge

Coppell appeared to start off strong with a goal within the first few minutes of play but it was disallowed due to an offside call. Junior Zunil Narsing made up for this assisting senior Laurent Maksoud for a goal shortly after. Sophomore Chris Madden also scored off a left footed rip a few minutes later. Cowboys dominate Saginaw in first district game

By Chris Reagan Staff Writer The Cowboy soccer team started off district play with a 3-0 rout of Saginaw to start district play on Tuesday night. Coppell dominated the game from the beginning playing a possession oriented game with a lot of short passing, in contrast to Saginaw’s play which tried to work the ball up the field as quickly as possible. Coppell maintained possession for well over the majority of the game within the opposing half of the field, stopping Saginaw offensive attempts almost as soon as they started. Varsity soccer looks to ‘kick it up’ a notch

With the addition of new boys coach Chad Rakestraw, the Cowboys varsity soccer team will certainly be scoring. After a disappointing loss against Hebron in last year’s first round of the Class-5A playoffs, the Cowboys will look to get off on the right foot. “The program has nearly transformed in only a year,” senior goalkeeper Phillip Ellis said. “We all knew that things needed to change drastically if we wanted to succeed in the next year.” The hiring of Rakestraw from district rival Justin Northwest means going back to square one. Cowboys trounce Panthers, Dominate Dawgs

By Chris Reagan Staff Writer The Coppell Cowboys finished the first day of the annual Coppell Kick-off Classic Thursday with a 2-0 record against Plano East and Midland, holding both teams to shutout wins. Thursday afternoon Coppell played Plano East, easily defeating the Panthers 4-0. Following this game later in the day Coppell took on Midland taking care of the Dawgs, 3-0. Goals were scored by Mitchell Parnell, Steven Wheatcroft, Tanner Lines, and Will Simonds. After the first day of play Coppell sits at first place in the tournament, doubling the second highest point total and a three goal lead over second place. Coppell takes on South Grand Prairie tomorrow at 2 P.M. at Coppell.

Boys soccer another option tonight

Coleman Armes Staff Writer There is so much going on tonight with Coppell High School sports, most notably the Coppell Cowboys Basketball playoff game tonight at Irving MacArthur against Colleyville Heritage High School, but if that is too far there is another, closer option. Coppell Cowboys soccer takes on Saginaw here tonight at Buddy Echols Field. Cowboys kick their way to next round against top team

By Gaby Moran Staff Writer Tuesday March 23, Coppell boys soccer team had their first playoff game against Keller Central.  Although the cowboys already beat Keller Central earlier in the year 1-0, the team has changed a lot since then. With the new and improved team, the cowboys beat Keller Central 4-0. Advancing past first round, Coppell’s next opponent is the nation’s and state’s number one team Jesuit on Friday at Hebron High School at 8 p.m. Jesuit has had an unbelievable season with no losses and only allowing all their opponents to score three goals on them. To keep with tradition, the last home game is set to honor the senior players. “[Senior Night] is not just to celebrate our soccer careers at the high school but also to thank our parents for coming to all of our games no matter where or what the weather is like,” senior captain Colton Reese said. Cowboys prepare to battle Marauders

This gave Coppell boys soccer team a full week just to focus on Friday March 5 game against Flower Mound Marcus. Last game, the Marauders beat the Cowboys 1-0 and tonight is a chance for redemption. Cowboys battle for playoff spot tonight

Both teams are tied for fourth place in District 6-5A and only the top four teams qualify for playoffs. Tonight’s winner is garenteed a spot to playoffs while the other will be out of the running. The game is scheduled to start around 7:30 pm at Buddy Echols Field. JV 2 is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm and JV 1 is scheduled to start at 6 pm.
